A Liberty teenager was killed  in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Monday afternoon in Clay County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 18-year-old Jacob A. Davidson of Kansas City, was the driver of an eastbound 2016 GMC Canyon on 112th Street, one-half mile east of Route A at 2:47 p.m., when Davidson crested a hill and lost control of his vehicle.

The GMC then ran off the right side of the roadway, the driver overcorrected, began to skid, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

A passenger in the truck, 17-year-old Benjamin C. Mundy of Liberty, was pronounced dead by Dr. Coulson at Liberty Hospital at 3:33 p.m.

The Patrol was assisted by Liberty Police and Clay County deputies.
