If you've ever felt the urge to follow in your ancestors footsteps and head out to the farm to start tearing away the husk on some field corn, this may be for you. The Missouri State Corn Husking Championships are taking place September 20-22 in Marshall.

The events kick off on Thursday, September 20, with Education Day. A fun-filled day for grade school students, and open to the public. The day's events will be held at the Saline County Fairgrounds.

On Friday, September 21, at 4 p.m.,  the Marshall square hosts the Corn Husking Championships Parade.

Saturday, September 22, is a day that's filled with activities. It all starts with the Husking Competition takes place starting at 8 a.m. with registration starting at 7 a.m. If you want to grab breakfast, a biscuit and gravy breakfast will be served on the fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Also included in the lineup of events is the Antique Machinery Show that starts at 8 a.m. and runs all day.

Don't forget the Homemade Cookie Contest, the Cookie Auction, the Children's Petting Zoo and the Straw Pile Money Hunt. Throw in the Corn Toss later in the day and then wind down with the Awards Banquet  at 5:30 p.m.

Now, as if that wasn't enough to keep you occupied, throw into the mix a rodeo each night at 7 p.m. The Viking Stampede Rodeo takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday night  with 19 colleges participating at the Lower Arena on the Saline County Fairground.

Mark it on your calendar...it should be three days packed full of fun & adventure for young and old!
