Milling, Resurfacing Projects Noted by City of Sedalia

UPDATE: The start date for this project has been pushed back to at least this weekend, and possibly next Monday, Public Works Director Brenda Ardrey noted at Monday night's City Council meeting.

The reason for the delay is that the contractor is busy working on another project which needs to be completed before working on the City of Sedalia's milling project.

The City of Sedalia issued the following press release on Friday morning:

“Beginning at 8 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 3, and continuing through 5:30 p.m. on Thurs, Nov. 4, S. Grand Ave. from W. Broadway Blvd. to just south of Clinton Road will be restricted to a single lane of traffic as the road’s surface is milled and new surfacing material is applied to the roadway. Those routinely parking on S. Grand Ave. will need to ensure their vehicles are not parked on S. Grand Ave beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4, and continuing until 5:30 p.m. each day as vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Should inclement weather delay completion of the work, Fri., Nov. 5, will be used as a make-up day to allow for completion of the work on S. Grand Ave. Workers and heavy equipment including dump trucks will be in this area as well as flaggers to direct travelers. Travelers are encouraged to use an alternate route on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 to avoid the congestion in this heavy construction work zone.

With work complete on S. Grand Ave., beginning at 8 a.m. on Fri., Nov. 5, roadway resurfacing is planned to begin on W. Third St. at S. Ohio Ave. and continue to S. Park Ave. Work on W. 3rd St. is expected to be completed by 5:30 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 8, 2021, weather dependent. The roadway will be restricted to a single lane of traffic during resurfacing and flaggers will be present in the construction work zone.

Those routinely parking on W. 3rd St. will need to ensure their vehicles are not parked on W. 3rd St. beginning at 8 a.m. on Nov. 5, 6, and 8 and continuing until 5:30 p.m. each day as vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. Roadway resurfacing on Fri., Nov. 5, is planned between S. Ohio Ave. and S. Moniteau Ave. Those parents routinely lining W. 3rd St. to pick-up children from Sacred Heart School will want to plan to avoid W. 3rd St. between S. Kentucky Ave. and S. Moniteau Ave. on Fri., Nov. 5.

The roadway resurfacing on W. 3rd St. from S. Moniteau Ave including in front of Sacred Heart School and continuing through to S. Grand Ave. will be completed on Sat., Nov. 6, between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to avoid a school day. No work is planned for Sun., Nov. 7,. Resurfacing of W. 3rd St. from S. Grand Ave. to S. Park Ave. will continue on to completion on Mon., Nov. 8, with work being completed between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., weather dependent.

Work is planned to begin at 8 a.m., Tues., Nov. 9, on W. 16th St. at S. Warren Ave. and continue through to S. Park Ave. Work on W. 16th St. is expected to be completed by 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 10, weather dependent. Those routinely parking on W. 16th St. will need to ensure their vehicles are not parked on W. 16th St. beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Nov. 9, and 10,  and continuing until 5:30 p.m. each day as vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. On Nov. 9, eastbound W. 16th St. will be closed to through traffic between S. Warren Ave. and S. Barrett Ave., travelers will need to plan for an alternate route in this area. W. 16th St. will be restricted to a single lane with flaggers present to assist travelers between S. Barrett Ave. eastbound to S. Park Ave.

On Nov. 10, westbound W. 16th St. will be closed to through traffic between S. Barrett Ave. and S. Warren Ave., travelers will need to plan for an alternate route in this area. W. 16th St. between S. Park Avenue, west to S. Barrett Ave will be restricted to a single lane with flaggers present to assist travelers. Travelers will want to avoid W. 16th St. on Tues., Nov. 9, and Wed., Nov. 10, and are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays due to this heavy construction work zone. Work is planned to be completed on W. 16th St. by 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 10, weather dependent.

The E. 3rd St. and S. Lamine St. Parking Lot and adjacent alley between S. Lamine St. and S. Ohio Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 10, until noon on Fri., Nov. 12, to allow for resurfacing. Notice is hereby given to the public that any vehicles parked within the E. 3 rd St. and S. Lamine St. Parking Lot or adjacent alley between S. Lamine St. and S. Ohio Ave. beginning at 8 a.m., Wed., Nov. 10, and until noon, Nov. 12, will be towed at the owner’s expense. This work is weather dependent and closure/re-opening of the parking lot and alley may be delayed due to inclement weather.”

The City apologized for any inconvenience the lane restrictions and closures may cause as they work to improve these areas.
