Missing Sedalia Man Found Dead Inside A Car

On Thursday at approximately 11:28 a.m., the Sedalia Police Department was dispatched to an unattended vehicle parked at a business located at Broadway Boulevard and Thompson Avenue in reference to an unconscious person.

Upon investigation, officers located a deceased man inside the vehicle. The man was identified as Wayne A. Gravitt, 26, of Sedalia.

Due to a possible need for medical care, Mr. Gravitt was reported missing to the SPD by his family on July 5.

Officers and detectives exhausted many different leads looking for Mr. Gravitt over the past three days, including pings to Mr. Gravitt’s phone, searching drainage waterways by person and a special storm drain inspection camera, and following up on several possible leads to locate Mr. Gravitt to check his well-being, according to an SPD press release issued at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Detectives will continue to investigate the death to ensure there was no foul play. At this time, an autopsy has been requested by SPD Detectives.
