If you're traveling this weekend, I've got some good news. It's a roadwork holiday in Missouri over the 4th of July. This is according to a Facebook post on the MoDOT Kansas City Facebook page.

Starting at noon CDT Friday, July 1, and running through the morning of Tuesday, July 5 the Missouri Department of Transportation will not be conducting road work on the State's roads and highways. MoDOT says permanent lane closures will stay in place throughout the weekend.

MoDOT also reminds travelers to buckle up and put their phones down to get where they're going safely. Travelers over the long weekend can check out delays and construction zones on the MoDOT Traveler Information Map here.

MoDOT says the top five contributing circumstances for work zone crashes are distracted driving, following too close, improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions, and failing to yield.

One more note from MoDOT regarding the resurfacing of Highway 50 in Johnson County. the Route 50 and Route 50 Business intersections will be closed on Thursday, June 30, as part of the Route 50 resurfacing project.
