Motley Crue Def Leppard Show at “The K” Postponed

If there was one show that I thought had a shot of happening COVID-19 be dammed I thought it would be this one. The World's most notorious rock band out on the road with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Unfortunately we're going to have to wait another year. The artists have posted a joint announcement postponing the tour, including the Tuesday June 23 date at Kauffman Stadium, until next year.

According to the Kansas City Royals website:

A new date for the Kauffman Stadium show in 2021 will be announced soon, and we will provide updates as they become available. Original tickets are automatically valid for the rescheduled show date. Refunds will be available at the time the rescheduled show date is announced, and ticket buyers will be contacted via email with their options.

I can't say it surprises me. Especially after Kenny Chesney cancelled his tour last month. Oddly, the silence from Chesney's camp up until the cancellation, and the somewhat positive joint statement from the artists on "The Stadium Tour" on May 1 gave me some hope we might see some shows, big shows, this summer.

While I suspect most major artists are going to stay off the road this summer. I think some smaller artists who tour for income will hit the road when it's safe to do so. And I suspect venues that can open, put on a show, and social distance the audience will happily book those artists.

For example, Trace Adkins, according to his website, is still planning on opening The Missouri State Fair with a show Thursday Night August 13. The big question at this point, will he have a Missouri State Fair to perform at? Many state fairs aren't happening this summer either. At this point it looks like it's wait and see. For both concerts and the state fair.
