MSHP Sends Out ‘Gotham City’ Alert By Mistake

On Tuesday, a routine test of Missouri’s Blue Alert system was inadvertently sent to wireless devices statewide.

The Patrol regularly tests the Blue Alert system to ensure it works properly when needed.

During the test, an option was incorrectly selected, allowing the message to be disseminated to the public, according to a press release issued by the Patrol at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

There was no Emergency Alert.

The alert, which was sent just before 5 p.m., mentioned a purple and green 1978 Dodge with a personalized plate of UKIDME.

This was followed up with a message indicating the "Gotham City" text was delivered statewide by mistake.

The Patrol said it appreciates the public’s understanding and support of the Emergency Alert program.
