During a lengthy drug investigation conducted from July 2017 - October 2017, area authorities focused on individuals involved with distributing controlled substances, specifically methamphetamine and prescription pills. Several of the suspects are still being sought.

A press release from the Sedalia Police Department indicates that Drug Enforcement detectives and investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol took part in the investigation.

SPD says the goal of the investigation was to seek out individuals responsible for distributing user quantities of the substances, and who were difficult to investigate through routine methods, as a result of them staying at various residences or motels, and constantly moving from place to place.

Investigators were reportedly able to make direct purchases of methamphetamine and prescription pills from these individuals, in order to establish criminal charges against them.

It was noted the reason for the length of the investigation was to make sure lab results were correct.
