The  Sedalia West Central Chapter of the Missouri Archaeological Societyis back again with the Native American Artifact Show. You probably remember they've been doing this for a few years now, and it's always really neat to check out.  They'll have displays from area collectors of authentic artifacts, and some other historical items.

The best part, to me, is that you can bring in YOUR artifacts.  Did you find an arrowhead in the woods with your Grandpa when you were a kid?  Bring it in, and they'll tell you what they can.  Where it came from, which tribe it might be associated with, and maybe even when it was in use.  They'll tell you for free, even.  They won't buy your stuff or appraise it, nothing like that.  But they can give you a little insight into your own personal findings.

They will also have flint knapping displayed. I admit, I had no idea what that was, but the internet came through for me again.

So don't miss out on an opportunity to teach your young ones about the history they will find when they're out exploring.  And, you might get some memories of your own finds to pass down to them.  The event will be on Saturday, September 29, at the Farm Credit Services Building - 2600 South Limit.  It'll be going on from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  There's no charge whatsoever.

If you have any questions about the show or the society, call Tim Eppenauer, the Chapter President, at 660-221-9015.

Knappingly yours,

Behka
