Lee's Summit School District is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to their students 16 years of age and older through clinics at schools. This according to a report by Fox 4. I think it's a genius easy way to get teens, and their parents who want them to get vaccinated, vaccinated.

The school district told Fox 4 it had enough interest in the vaccine from students and parents to begin vaccinating students at in-school clinics. The clinics will be administered by the Jackson County Health Department and students will receive the Pfizer vaccine, which is the only vaccine authorized for teenagers as young as 16.

According to Fox 4, the school district isn't requiring the COVID-19 vaccination at this time, and only students with parent or guardian permission will be vaccinated.

I think that's a great way to vaccinate students who want to be vaccinated, while leaving appointments outside of the school clinics for others in the community who want to get the vaccine.

I've also heard of larger employers holding COVID-19 vaccine clinics for their employees too. And that's not a bad idea if you employ enough people to make it worth while to work with a medical group to come do a clinic at your workplace. Once again, it frees up clinic appointments run by hospitals, health centers, and medical practices for those in the community who want a shot.

It also just makes getting the vaccine easy if your a student or an employee of the business offering the clinic. I think there's many who'll get the vaccine if it's easy to get. Yet might be less inclined to get it if it's a hassle, or they work weird hours.

When I worked in Lubbock, the media company I worked for always held flu shot clinics for employees. I appreciated the opportunity because it was just easy to get the shot over with and get on with my day. Since I left, it's one more appointment, one more thing on the to-do list.

So yes, bring the clinics on. Give students the opportunity to be vaccinated at school. And if you're a larger employer, give your employees the opportunity to be vaccinated at work. It just one less thing that needs to be put on the to-do list. And that's good for everyone.
