On the night of November 17th, the Pettis County K9 Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of US 65 and Heck Avenue on a vehicle travelling at 72 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. The driver was identified as Nathan E. Seifner of Sedalia. Seifner received a summons for Careless and Imprudent Driving.


 

Last Thursday morning, the Pettis County K9 Unit was patrolling south on B Highway, just south of Templeton Road in Pettis County. The unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling 89 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. During the stop, the driver, Gage L. Fergerson of Osceola, was arrested and released on a summons for Careless and Imprudent Driving by the manner of speed.


 

On Sunday, the Pettis County K9 Unit was patrolling west of Sedalia city limits when they collected a speed of a vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour east on US 50 coming into the city limits of Sedalia. The Unit was able to catch up to the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver, Luis A Sotelo-Alvardo was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Careless and Imprudent Driving.


 

Saturday afternoon, the Pettis County Joint Communications received an emergency call of a subject actively being sexually assaulted. Pettis County Deputies were dispatched to the 17100 block of Pink Hook in Pettis County. During the investigation, Pettis County Patrol Deputies spoke with the victim, along with a witness, who reported she had been in altercation with her Uncle and during the incident, she was sexually assaulted. Deputies took Yuriy S Kovalenko into custody without incident. During the assault, a juvenile subject was present to the assault. Pettis County Deputies transported Kovalenko to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy (Aggravated Sexual Offense), a class U felony, and felony Assault in the 3rd Degree. Bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.


 

On Friday, Kevin Berkbigler of Sedalia reported to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office that sometime between November 17th and November 19th, someone had stolen his 2019 Can-Am side by side and trailer from the Rac Jac Storage Units in the 3500 block of Highway B.
