Late Friday afternoon, Sedalia School District 200 issued the following statement:

 

Sedalia School District 200 has been informed that a member of the Heber Hunt Elementary School community has tested positive for COVID-19.

The person is in quarantine at home. Six people with whom they were close contacts also will quarantine for the required period of time as outlined by the Pettis County Health Center; they will monitor any symptoms should they occur.

Additionally, three members of the Smith-Cotton High School community have tested positive. They are in quarantine at home. The 12 people with whom they were close contacts also will quarantine for the PCHC required period of time.

The district has reported these cases to the Pettis County Health Center, as required by current Missouri law.

With our mandatory mask protocol and social distancing guidelines, additional quarantines are not required at this time.

We strongly recommend that all students, their family members and Sedalia 200 employees monitor for CDC-defined symptoms of COVID-19, including:

• Fever or chills
• Cough
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Fatigue
• Muscle or body aches
• Congestion or runny nose
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Newly emerged loss of taste or smell
• Nausea or vomiting
• Diarrhea

If symptoms develop, you are advised to stay home and consult with your health care provider.


Sedalia School District 200 has learned that from Saturday, Sept. 19 through 23, four members of the Smith-Cotton High School community have tested positive for COVID-19. All are in quarantine at home.

The 36 people with whom they were close contacts also will quarantine for the required period of time as outlined by the Pettis County Health Center; they will monitor any symptoms should they occur.

Additionally, a member of the Heber Hunt Elementary School community has tested positive. They are in quarantine at home. The two people with whom they were close contacts also will quarantine for the PCHC required period of time.

One member of the Horace Mann Elementary community also tested positive. They are in quarantine at home. Two people with whom they were close contacts also will quarantine for the required period of time.

The district has reported these cases to the Pettis County Health Center, as required by current Missouri law.

As of Monday, the Pettis County Health Center reported that the total number of coronavirus cases in Pettis County has reached 1,000.

 

And there were five more deaths in Pettis County over the weekend, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID to 16.
