Smith-Cotton High School senior Jeffrey Goodson has accepted an athletic and academic scholarship to play baseball at Columbia College in Columbia.

Goodson, the son of Julie and David Goodson, has earned varsity letters in both his sophomore and junior seasons. He said the size of the campus and the team’s winning tradition were factors in choosing Columbia College to continue his academic and baseball careers.

“It’s a smaller campus but I am still in Columbia, I’ll be in a big college town,” Goodson said. “The academic side of it, I am really excited for that. The baseball program doesn’t lose – they win. Coach (Darren) Munns and Boomer (Assistant Coach Craig McAndrews) have a great program rolling and I just want to go in, compete and try and help the team."

S-C Baseball Head Coach Kyle Zimmerman said: “Jeffrey has been the definition of hard work and determination for us ever since he joined the program as a freshman. I'm very excited for him as he finishes his high school career strong and moves on to a great baseball program at Columbia College.”
