A Lee's Summit man was killed and another injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday night in Saline County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2007 Ford Ranger, driven by 79-year-old Dale A. Montgomery of Lee's Summit, was on I-70 at US 65 just before 6:30 p.m., when the vehicle slid off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned onto the passenger side.

Montgomery was pronounced deceased by Saline County Paramedic Wade Kelling at 7:23 p.m. The body was taken to Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.

His passenger, 73-year-old Thomas J. Mumm, also of Lee's Summit, suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by Saline County EMS.

Neither were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Ford was totaled and towed by Don's Truck Towing.

Saline County Deputies assisted the eight Troopers on scene.
