Abby Bruce, student director, Sedalia Community Cafe, submitted the following update:

With the  coronavirus affecting so much of what we can and can't do, can you imagine struggling to put food on the table?  The Sedalia Community Cafe works to make sure struggling local citizens don't have to worry about getting a nice meal at the end of the day.

The Cafe is open Monday through Friday and serves dinner from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Open Door North Venue, 417 West Pettis.

"In order to continue serving the disabled, elderly, and homeless, we need your help.  We serve between 45 and 50 people a night and are in need of support from our community.  We are a Smith Cotton student driven organization that was started in 2006 by Smith Cotton alumni, Kristen Allcorn.

"We strive to keep our costs low while also providing a quality hot meal," said Abby Bruce, Student Director of the Cafe.  "It costs us about $120 per night to feed 50 people."

If you would like more information on the cafe, please call Abby at (660) 460-6108 or contact her by email at SedaliaCommunityCafe@gmail.com.

The Cafe is a non-profit organization, so therefore your donation would be tax deductible.  Donations can be sent to Randy Sparks at 414 South Ohio, Sedalia Mo.

We are also accepting donations of 8-inch styrofoam to-go plates, plastic forks, spoons and napkins, Bruce said.
