Sure, there's a lot that the Missouri State Fair has to offer.  There's agricultural exhibits and competitions, the carnival, the music, the shopping... but I think for a lot of us, the FOOD is one of the best parts. And it's not all corndogs and kettle corn (not that that is EVER going to go away, if it does I think I might have some kind of conniption fit). There's always been good beef, pork and chicken in the mix.  And now... something a little fancier.

L'Ecole Culinaire is a culinary school in Kansas City.  They're working with the Missouri State Fair and the Department of Agriculture to show off the crazy variety of foods that are grown and produced here in Missouri - stuff you might not even have known about.   They're going to open a little pop up bistro (in the air conditioning), I believe in the Ag building. Culinary students and teachers will make dishes for breakfast and lunch all throughout the fair, and it sounds Killer.  Have a look at some of the stuff you can get this year:

Will you LOOK at that.  I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes, but I might eat a tomato to get my grimy little mitts on that sandwich.

I'm not usually a fan of sweet breakfasts, so this is right up my alley.

I can't wait to see what else this brings! What a fun, new thing to have at the Fairgrounds that will teach a little something while we're stuffing our faces.  The Missouri Grown Bistro will be open for breakfast between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily throughout the whole fair.

Hungrily yours,

Behka
