A Sedalia man was injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Pettis County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a westbound 2003 Chevy Silverado, driven by 43-year-old Ajamu A. Gilmore of Sedalia, was on US 50 Highway at Route O at 3:08 p.m., when he slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by a westbound 2012 Freightliner, driven by Brady G. Douglas of Kaiser.

The impact caused the Chevy to slide off the roadway. The Freightliner also slid off the roadway, and its towed unit overturned.

Gilmore suffered serious injuries, and was transported by PCAD to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment.

The Freightliner had extensive damage, while the Chevy was totaled.

Smithton Police and Pettis County Deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
