Sedalia Mayor Urges Community to Follow COVID-19 Guidelines

Sedalia Mayor John Kehde is asking those who live and work in Sedalia to please follow doctors' orders when it comes to battling the coronavirus.

In a message to the community posted on the City of Sedalia Facebook page Mayor Kehde says Sedalia is "now at a critical situation with our local medical team to be able to successfully treat the increasing numbers of COVID-19 positive cases."

While mentioning improved therapeutics for those suffering from COVID-19 and an eventual vaccine for the coronavirus, Mayor Kehde urges everyone in the community to get a flu shot. And to follow the advice scientists and the medical community has been asking everyone to follow for months: frequent washing of hands, wearing of a face covering, and physical distancing of six feet or more.

According to the Pettis County Health Center via the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing Monday: "As of November 2, 2020 there are 1984 cases as compared to 1727 cases reported on October 26 and 1567 reported cases on October 19.  There are more than 500 active cases." The report from Monday indicates there were a total of 113 new cases reported over this past weekend. The Health Center expects positive COVID-19 cases to rise in the county because of Halloween trick-or-treating and parties.

Additionally the Health Center reminded the community that "the information on COVID-19, the number of cases and the precautions that need to be followed are not made up. The number of cases is based on data received at the Health Center from laboratories.   The precautions are based on the science of disease transmission."
