You know, in all my years on this planet, I don't think I've ever seen an outdoor movie.

Or if I have, I don't remember it.  Surely there must have been a drive in or something? Were those still a thing in the eighties?  I don't know.

I do know this, you've got a chance coming up soon to see an movie in the great outdoors with Sedalia Parks and Rec!  They're celebrating the 100 year anniversary of Hubbard Park this year by having events or adding features to the park.  And this month, it's an Outdoor Movie Night. I think this is a great idea.  You can sit in the open air, stay socially distanced, and be entertained for a night for free.

Here's how it's gonna work, from the Parks and Rec:

For May, we are hosting a free outdoor movie night! The movie we will be showing is Red Tails rated PG-13! The movie is free for families to enjoy on May 8th! The movie will begin at approx. 8:15pm or when it is dark enough to see the screen. Bring your own seating. Movie snacks will be available for purchase or you may bring your own! Come out and enjoy the park!  For more information: contact Savannah Lynde, Recreation Supervisor, at slynde@sedaliaparks.com,visit the Sedalia Parks & Recreation Office at 1500 West 3rd Street, or call us at (660) 826-4930

Simple enough, right? You can choose your spot, bring your best lawn chair or blanket, and whatever snacks you want. I don't know if I've heard of this movie, it came out a while back.  Let's check it out.

Honestly, that looks pretty exciting.  It's PG-13 cos, you know, war.  But it looks like it'd be a great movie.  It is based on the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American combat pilots during World War II.  And it has everybody and their dog in it, too.

So, make a note to go see a movie in the outdoors and celebrate 100 years with Hubbard Park!

Movingly yours,
Behka
