The Sedalia Police Department have issued a press release regarding shots fired at Vermont Park over the Memorial Day weekend.

On Monday May 31, at approximately 7:48 p.m., Sedalia Police Officers responded to the area of Vermont Park on reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, Officers quickly discovered that suspect vehicles had fled the scene, and no one was injured.

An investigation of the incident revealed this stems from an ongoing dispute between two parties. One party was at the park with their family when the other group arrived.  With the assistance of the Pettis County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sedalia Officers located two of the suspects involved and arrested them for Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Members of the Sedalia Police Investigations Unit responded, and continue to investigate the incident.

Two suspects were arrested: Jayden Lawson Cheese, 17, and Jordy Salazar, 19, both of Sedalia.

The Sedalia Police encourage anyone who was at Vermont Park at the time of the incident to contact the Police Department with what you witnessed to assist them in obtaining all the facts. If anyone has any additional information, they are urged to contact Detective Davis Mittelhauser at (660) 827-7823 extension 1244.
