Sedalia Police Reports For August 11, 2021

Tuesday night, Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding in the 2600 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The driver's information was run through Dispatch and he was found to have a revoked driver's license. Nicholaus Michael Surber, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and Exceeding the Speed Limit. Surber was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending state charges.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that Officers observed driving on the wrong side of the road Monday night. When Officers made contact with the driver, they detected the odor of intoxicants on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a revoked driver's license and it was determined he was intoxicated. Darrick Lamount Green, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. There, Green provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Green was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for felony Driving While Intoxicated, and Driving While Suspended.

Officers were dispatched to a subject check near the 2600 block of East Broadway Boulevard Tuesday night. When Officers arrived, they observed a subject walking and stumbling in and out of the roadway while carrying an open bottle of liquor. Officers made contact with the subject, who was clearly intoxicated and unable to maintain his balance. Lowell Edward Bryant, 56, of Sedalia, was unable to care for himself and was arrested and placed on a 12 hour safekeeping hold.

On the night of August 6th, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Fitter's restaurant, 500 South Ohio, in reference to an assault. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Kieran A. Rich, who said a subject walked into the bar and started hitting him. The video footage was reviewed and the statement was confirmed. The suspect had fled the area prior to Officer's arrival.

Tuesday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East 16th Street for a waste disposal violation. The victim wished to pursue charges for the violation. Norma Kay Forsythe, 78, of Sedalia, was located and issued a city summons for Depositing Solid Waste in a Container Other Than Their Own. Forsythe was issued a court date.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Main Street Tuesday afternoon. The driver was found to have a revoked driver's license. Shaun Mark Bartlett, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested at the scene and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges of Driving While Suspended.

Tuesday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the 2300 block of West Main Street in reference to a property damage report. Bruce Johnson said the suspect kicked in his door and left after being confronted.

Officers initiated an investigative traffic stop on a truck Tuesday afternoon because the registered owner's license status was revoked. The driver was the owner, and a check through Dispatch confirmed her status was revoked. Rebecca S. Erfurth, 61, of Smithton, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Erfurth was released with a city ticket for Driving While Revoked.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the 1500 block of Waterloo Road for a report of some threats made over the internet. Contact was made with management, who reported that an employee had made threats to the business. Timothy A. Showman, 44, of Otterville, was arrested on charges of felony Making a Terroristic Threat.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1600 block of East 7th Street in regards to a theft from a building no longer in progress Tuesday morning. Kimberly Kay Bosworth reported items being stolen from inside their residence on August 8th.

On the evening of August 9th, Sedalia Police responded to the 1900 block of South Osage Avenue in regards to a domestic assault that had just occurred. The suspect had left the scene prior to Police's arrival. Charges have been submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor for review.

Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Park for a reported dead body. The subject was confirmed dead by PCAD and the Pettis County Coroner took custody of the body.
