Sedalia Police Reports For August 6, 2021

Between July 26th and July 31st, there were a total of seven thefts from motor vehicles reported to the Sedalia Police Department from the same geographical area in the east side of Sedalia. The total estimated theft from the vehicles was over $1,200. On August 1st, there was a residential burglary reported in the 1000 block of East 6th Street where an additional $1,000 in property was stolen. The burglary occurred within the same time frame as the thefts from vehicles. The Criminal Investigations Bureau was able to compile corroborating evidence from these cases, and other related cases, to show that the same suspect was involved in all of the aforementioned incidents. On August 5th, Patrol Officers were able to locate and arrest Johnnie L. Stuart III, 32, of Sedalia. Stuart was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of felony Burglary in the 2nd Degree, two counts of felony stealing, and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree.

Friday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 17th Street and South Osage Avenue. The driver of the vehicle had a suspended driver's license. Austin Kenlee Bale, 23, Homeless, was arrested for Driving While Suspended.

Wednesday night, Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Kentucky Avenue. During the vehicle stop, the driver was suspected of driving while impaired. The driver was identified to Dispatch, and confirmed to have a suspended driving status. Lapris George Moore, 42, of Sedalia, was transported to the Police Department and then to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 12 hour protective custody hold. State charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Suspended are pending.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a custody issue. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Earl Michael Moon, who stated that his child's mother had taken his child to Louisiana. Moon then said the child's mother said she did not have the means to return the child to Missouri. Moon had a court order giving him custody of the child, and planned on going to pick the child up. A general information report was completed.

Officers observed a silver sedan travelling northbound on South Limit Avenue that was failing to maintain its lane Thursday night. A traffic stop was conducted, and while speaking with the driver, Officers detected the odor of intoxicants on the driver's breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Toni Sunio, 33, of Knob Noster, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC as above 0.08. Sunio was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for Driving While Intoxicated before being released to a sober driver with a court date.

Thursday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of East Saline Street and North Emmett Avenue. The driver was found to have a revoked license and was arrested at the scene. Lachelle Rene Flores, 38, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released for Driving While Suspended.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Normandy Road in reference to a property damage report Wednesday morning. James L. Bays stated that the lock on his storage unit was cut off, but he did not believe anything was taken from it.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of North Engineer for a report of property damage Thursday afternoon. Officers made contact with the caller, who stated that sometime overnight someone was in the cemetery shooting fireworks, drinking and damaging City property. There was a wallet that was left behind on scene that was placed into found property.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Scott Joplin Court for an assist agency report with the Children's Division. Upon arrival, it was determined that the living conditions were unsuitable for the children, and a family member came and picked them all up. No charges are being sought at this time.

Sedalia Police responded to the Police Department Lobby in reference to a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, Officers met with Jessica Griffin, who stated her vehicle was struck while parked on James Road sometime during the overnight hours. The striking vehicle left without providing information.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to an attempted car-jacking that occurred at the intersection of East 16th Street and South New York Avenue. The suspects didn't get into the vehicle and there were no injuries.

Officers took a report of found property in the lobby of the Police Department Thursday morning. A cell phone had been recovered in the 2000 block of East 7th Street. The phone was placed into evidence as found property.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1200 block of South Osage Avenue Wednesday evening for a violation of an order of protection. A female subject reported that a male suspect was in her home, in violation of an ex-parte. The suspect left before Officers arrived. The suspect had sent several text messages to the caller. Nathan S. Snyder, 37, of Sedalia, was later arrested for Violation of a Full Order of Protection and placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a violation of an order of protection. Contact was made with a male suspect, who was the respondent on an order of protection and was arrested. Mario A. Madrid, 38, Homeless, was taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24 hour hold.
