Sedalia Police Reports For December 14, 2021

Monday night, Officers responded to the 400 block of South New York Avenue in reference to a burglary. Officers made contact with subjects at the residence and ran both through Dispatch. One subject was confirmed to have multiple warrants. James A. Clark, 37 of Warsaw, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless and Reckless Manner and a Parole Violation warrant. Clark was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on his warrants with no bond.

Monday afternoon, an Officer responded to the lobby of the Police Department for a harassment report that occurred in the 400 block of West 5th Street. The Officer made contact with Forrest Crane. Crane said the suspect sent him threatening messages and he wished to pursue charges for harassment. A state charge of Harassment in the 1st Degree was submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office on the suspect.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a theft report Monday morning that took place in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Lamine Avenue. Officers made contact Darwin Milton Potts, who stated that he was in an accident in September. Potts said that his moped was left at the scene and sometime afterwards, someone took the moped. Potts estimated the moped is worth $3,500.

Monday morning, Officers stopped a vehicle near Clinton Road and Matthew Drive after observing it fail to yield to oncoming traffic. A computer check of the driver revealed that her Missouri driving privilege was suspended. A probable cause search of her vehicle yielded marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia, which were seized for destruction. Mattie L. Hood, 30, of Sedalia, was transported to the Sedalia Police Department to be processed. Hood was released with a city summons for Driving While Suspended with a court date.

Sedalia Police performed a computer check on a car near South Harrison Avenue and West 7th Street Monday morning. The check showed the owner of the car had an active Benton County warrant. The Officer initiated a traffic stop on the car. The driver was confirmed as the owner and had an active Benton County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Properly Display License Plates, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Mariah Elizabeth Marlin, 30, of Otterville, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $1,000 cash or surety bond. The passenger had a baggie of marijuana on his person. The baggie was seized for destruction and the passenger was released.
