Sedalia Police Reports For December 8, 2021

Tuesday evening, Officers took a report of theft over the phone. The caller stated that while at school, his daughter was assaulted. During the assault, her cell phone fell out of her pocket and went missing. Using the "Find My Phone" app, the caller was able to provide an address where the phone was pinging. Officers went to the address provided, and were able to retrieve the cell phone. The phone was returned to the caller, who is not interested in pursuing charges for theft. The caller is cooperating with the school in regards to the assault.

Sedalia Police responded to the 400 block of West 4th Street Tuesday night for a violation of a court order. After an investigation, it was determined that the respondent may have violated the order. A state charge of Violation of a Court Order is being requested.

Tuesday night, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to two runaway juveniles. Before Officers arrived on scene, both juveniles returned home. A juvenile referral will be completed for both runaways.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Arlington Avenue for a report of found drug paraphernalia Tuesday night. When Officers arrived, all of the drug paraphernalia was located and collected for destruction.

Tuesday night, Officers responded to the 2400 block of East 10th Street for a property damage report. When Officers arrived, contact was made with the caller, who stated that someone threw a metal object at her window, causing it to shatter. The caller stated that she believed she knew who it was. After investigation and contact with the suspect, the suspect was placed under arrest. Maleenia Bishop, 19, of Sedalia, was taken to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released on charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree and Trespassing in the 2nd Degree.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 15th Street and South Grand Avenue for a moving violation Tuesday afternoon. A passenger in the vehicle had an active Failure to Appear warrant for his arrest. Christopher E. Kronk, 50, Homeless, was arrested for his felony FTA warrant on original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and was given a cash or surety bond of $7,500.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the Katy Trail overpass in the 2400 block of South Limit Avenue. On arrival, Officers met with an intoxicated subject covered in blood. The subject later admitted to cutting himself multiple times with his hands. The subject also stated he had taken several pills prior to Officers arrival. James P. Hutchins, 40, Homeless, was taken into protective custody and transported by the Pettis County Ambulance District to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to be treated. Hutchins was admitted to the Hospital and turned over to hospital staff for further care.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue for a report of a theft of a catalytic converter Tuesday morning. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Phillip L. Bedell. Bedell stated that sometime between noon on Monday and noon on Tuesday, someone cut the catalytic converter off of his vehicle, causing an estimated $300 in damage and parts. Officers took photos of the scene and attached them to the report. A knitted hat was found next to the vehicle. Bedell stated it was not his and the hat was not there the last time he was at the car. Officers collected the hat as evidence and sent it to the Missouri State Highway Patrol laboratory for further investigation. There are no suspects at this time.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Econolodge, 3501 West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. Frances J. Thibeault Jr. wished to report that his 1995 Saturn SC1 Coupe had been taken sometime in the overnight. There are no suspects at this time.
