Sedalia Police Reports For January 11, 2023

Monday night, Officers were dispatched to a report of a verbal disturbance in the area of South Engineer Avenue and East 3rd Street. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the subjects involved. They stated their dogs attacked one another. A general information report will be completed.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the intersection of North Washington Avenue and East St. Louis Street Monday evening for a report of a subject that had been hit by a vehicle. During the interview with the victim, it was discovered the victim had been assaulted in the 400 block of North Mill Street. The victim was able to identify the suspect. No contact has been made with the suspect at this time. A report was generated over the incident, and formal charges are being requested.

Tuesday evening, Officers responded to the 500 block of East 11th Street for a report of a burglary. A preliminary investigation was conducted, and the neighborhood was canvassed. A report was completed with the findings.

A vehicle stop was conducted in the area of West Main Street and North Missouri Avenue Monday night. After an on-scene investigation, the driver was arrested and issued multiple citations. Roke Rokopas, 35, of Sedalia, was issued citations for Driving While Suspended, No Proof of Insurance, and Failing to Secure a Child Less than 8 Years Old in a Child Seat. Rokopas was released on scene with a court date.

Early Tuesday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The vehicle was not properly displaying a registration plate. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driving status. Austin Draven Jumalon, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Jumalon was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he was finger printed and issued a UTT for DWS with a court date.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a disturbance at The Den, 115 West Main Street, late on the night of January 1st. It was discovered an altercation occurred, and one of the individuals involved struck the brick retaining wall on the north side of the parking lot located at 107 West Main Street, causing significant damage. No one wished to pursue charges in regards to the altercation. The suspect was later identified and arrested. Joseph Paul Adams, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for Leaving The Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident. Adams was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of North Mill Street and West Saline Street in reference to found property. The caller turned in a debit card, a gift card, and a motel room card. All three were found on the corner.

Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Department Tuesday afternoon. The complainant reported a sexual assault that occurred in Springfield, Missouri. The report was sent to the Springfield Police Department for further investigation.

Sedalia Police took a report of theft from the Open Door Thrift Shop, 612 South Hancock Avenue. On the afternoon of January 9th, a frequent customer stole two purses and a camera.

Monday afternoon, Officers spoke with James R. Ollison on the phone in regards to a theft. Ollison stated that a customer's vehicle, a 2002 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee, had been stolen from his business, Ollison's Used Cars, 2809 East 12th Street. The Jeep had been stolen between the evening of January 6th and the afternoon of January 8th. There are no known suspects at this time.

Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Tuesday morning in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, Officers met with management, who stated on January 2nd, a male subject filled a shopping cart full of items, paid for a portion of them at the self-checkout, and then left without paying for the majority of the items. The male was identified through security cameras, and state charges of Stealing are being submitted on the suspect.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers met with a subject in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a stolen vehicle. The individual stated a vehicle he owned was stolen while in Kansas City, Missouri. A general information report was taken, and will be forwarded to the KCPD for further investigation.

On the afternoon of December 23rd, a search warrant of a vehicle was carried out in the 1000 block of South Harrison Avenue. The warrant was pertaining to another case. In the course of the search, several items were found which were recognized to be stolen. The victim, however, had been arrested two days prior. The items were seized and placed into Safekeeping. Charges of Stealing are being requested.
