Sedalia Police Reports For January 14, 2022

On the morning of January 8th, Officers responded to the Phillips 66 gas station, 216 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of an assault. Wayne Andrew Gravitt reported that subjects known to him approached him and began hitting him. The suspects fled the scene and were not located at the time of the report. Gravitt sustained minor injury.

Thursday evening, Officers performed a traffic stop on a blue Ford, as the vehicle had an expired temporary tag. The traffic stop took place in the area of South Missouri Avenue and Wilkerson Street. Officers spoke to the driver and an occupant, and performed a computer check through Dispatch. Officers then learned that the occupant had an active Failure to Appear warrant from Pettis County for charges of Driving While Intoxicated, No License, and Possession of Marijuana. Officers arrested Vanessa A. Rochin, 19, of Sedalia and transported her to the Pettis County Jail. Bond was set at $2,500 cash or surety.

Early Friday morning, Officers made contact with a person who they knew had a warrant at the Cenex store, 120 East 16th Street. Officers spoke to the subject and performed a computer check through Dispatch, whereupon it was learned that he had an active warrant from Pettis County for Stealing a Firearm with a $1,500 cash or surety bond. Austin K. Bale, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Sedalia Police responded to the 300 block of west 3rd Street to take a report on a possible physical domestic disturbance that had occurred Thursday morning. Officers met with a juvenile, who said he was assaulted by his mother's boyfriend before school. Upon further investigation, an incident did occur, but no injuries were present. No charges are being filed at this time.

Early Thursday morning, Officers responded to a fraud/deception call at the Phillips 66, 216 West Broadway Boulevard. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with two clerks, who had received a counterfeit $20 bill in exchange for merchandise. The $20 bill was collected and the suspect was identified as Curtis R. Reynolds, 34, of Seligman, Missouri. About an hour later, Officers returned to the Phillips 66, in reference to Reynolds returning to the store with another counterfeit $20 bill. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with Reynolds, who claimed to not know the money was fake. Reynolds was arrested and put on a 24 hour hold for a felony Failure to Appear warrant out of Arkansas (a felony Drug Possession Charge), Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and Fugitive From Justice charge from the Arkansas warrant.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue for a physical domestic disturbance Thursday evening. On arrival, Officers made contact with the suspect and the victim. The primary physical aggressor was determined. Michael A. Etter, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. State charges of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree are being requested.

On January 7th, Officers responded to the Family Center Farm and Home, 1400 South Limit, for a theft report. On arrival, Officers spoke with the store manager, who stated two checks totaling $2,292.92 were written by the same subject on two prior visits to the store. The checks were fraudulent in nature. The suspect was later identified as Douglas M. Drahiem, 51, of Sedalia. Drahiem was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. State charges of two counts of Forgery and two counts of felony Stealing are being requested. Thursday afternoon, Officers responded to the Mr. Goodcents restaurant, 3400 West Broadway Boulevard Suite B, for a theft report. On arrival Officers spoke with the store manager. She reported that two fraudulent checks were passed in the store on January 8th and January 10th that totaled $206.10. The suspect was known to already be in the Pettis County Jail. Officers responded to the Jail to speak with him. Drahiem was placed under arrest and placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Forgery and Stealing.

Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of South Harrison in reference to a theft Thursday afternoon. Sandra S. Kronk reported a juvenile had stolen a go cart from a residence in the area. The value of the go cart was estimated at approximately $100. The go cart and the juvenile were located. The go cart was returned to the owner, and a report has been forwarded to the Juvenile Office.

Thursday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the 900 block of West 3rd Street for a report of a disturbance. Upon arriving, contact was made with the victim and the suspect at the location. Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was arrested for Burglary in the 1st Degree, Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree, and a Violation of a Full Order of Protection (5 Years in Length). Cosa W. Hoskins, 32, Unknown Address, was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 14th Street and South Missouri Avenue in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Contact was made with a white Chrysler 300 at Vermont Park matching the description. Upon contact with the two occupants, Officers smelled the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. The suspect admitted to having some marijuana inside the vehicle. The marijuana was seized and a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle. An additional marijuana related paraphernalia item was located inside the vehicle. The occupants, who were both juveniles, were released to an adult at the scene. A referral will be sent to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.

On the afternoon of January 12th, Officers were dispatched to the Orscheln Farm and Home store, 2424 South Limit, in reference to a theft. Officers arrived and made contact with Katelyn E. Walter, Management. Walter reported that on December 18th and 19th, a male subject had passed two checks to purchase multiple items. The checks later came back as fraudulent. The suspect was contacted and he admitted to passing the checks, knowing they were not valid. Charges will be submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor for Stealing and Forgery.
