Sedalia Police Reports For January 27, 2023

Thursday evening, Officers responded to the Motel 6, 3402 West Broadway Boulevard, for a warrant check. Officers made contact with the subject and checked his information with Dispatch. It was confirmed he had an active felony warrant from Pettis County for Harassment in the 1st Degree. Jerry J. Cook, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked pending a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop Wednesday night in an alley south of Broadway Boulevard east of Madison on a car for speeding. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated by drugs. Colton Joseph Rice, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Rice was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released pending charges.
Early Thursday morning, a car was stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Grand Avenue for several moving violations. The driver was found to be intoxicated by drugs. Amanda M. Barcia, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Barcia was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released pending charges.
Officers took a report of assault Wednesday evening. The victim stated he had been assaulted in the 200 block of South Ohio Avenue. The victim sustained no injuries as a result of the assault, but requested to pursue charges. No arrests have been made at the time of the report.
Wednesday evening, a victim reported to the Sedalia Police Department that her medication was stolen by a person known to her two and a half weeks ago from the 1600 block of East 7th Street.
Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding in the area of West 10th Street and South Limit Avenue Wednesday night. The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest for Speeding and Careless and Imprudent Driving. Joshua G. Persinger, 19, of Hughesville, was issued a citation for exceeding the speed limit by 35 MPH in a 35 mile an hour zone and for driving carelessly. Persinger was given a court date, cited, and released roadside.
Wednesday afternoon, SPD observed a red SUV travelling south on Ohio Avenue with registration that did not match the vehicle. Prior to conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, it pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of East 13th Street. Contact was made with the driver. After checking his information, it was discovered his driver's license was suspended. Michael J. Smith, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Smith was booked and released pending charges.
Early Wednesday morning, Jonathaon Oshea came to the Police Department to drop off property he found in the area of East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The items have been placed into evidence.
Officers took a theft report Wednesday evening of theft from John Padilla. Padilla stated he had ordered an item off Amazon.com and it was delivered to his residence in the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard. When Padilla arrived home, the item was not where the delivery company stated they left it. The suspect is unknown at the time of the report.
