Sedalia Police Reports For July 5, 2022

Sunday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Monroe Avenue. The owner of the property removed squatters from the home, and while cleaning discovered a crystalline substance and drug paraphernalia. The items were seized for destruction.

Officers took a burglary report from the 500 block of East 4th Street Monday night from Jose Marcos Castillo Sotelo. An unknown suspect gained entry into Castillo Stelo's garage. The suspect didn't take anything, but did use an extension cord and electricity. A general information report was created, but no charges are being pursued.

Early Friday morning, Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street, to take an assault report. A combative patient assaulted a hospital security officer while they were attempting to restrain the patient for observation. Charges are being pursued.

Monday night, Officers took a report of found property from James W. McGrath. McGrath found a credit card on the ground at the Cenex store, 2600 East Broadway Boulevard. The card was collected and placed into evidence as found property. The owner could not be located.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop Monday night near the intersection of South Grand Avenue and West 5th Street. During the contact, it was determined that the driver was improperly displaying a license plate that belonged to someone else. One license plate was seized, and will be returned to the DOR. No charges are being sought.

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 1900 block of South Quincy Avenue. The driver was identified, and after an investigation he was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Moises Romero Rubio, 38, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Driving While Revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender).

Early Saturday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Barrett Avenue on a vehicle that had been observed speeding. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Mikee Rashon Wilson, 25, of Otterville, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender). Wilson was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Wilson was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Sedalia Police responded to the 300 block of North New York Avenue Saturday evening for a report of a vehicle in the area with unresponsive subjects inside. Upon arriving, it was determined that none of the subjects were unresponsive. The vehicle had the odor of marijuana coming from inside. A search of the vehicle found drug paraphernalia, which was seized for destruction. A check through Dispatch showed one subject had an active Sedalia Failure to Appear warrant. Camilo Pascual, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested on his FTA warrant on original charges of Minor In Possession. Pascual was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked with a $60 cash only bond.

Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of East 16th Street and South Summit Avenue early Saturday morning on a registration violation. An occupant of the vehicle was found to have two Failure to Appear warrants out of Pettis County on original charges of Stealing and Trespassing. Dawna R. Admire, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a set bond of $3,000 cash or surety.

Early Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Grand Avenue. Officers took a property damage report from Dennis Lewis and Sharon Lewis. A suspect has not been identified at this time.

Monday morning, the Pettis County Joint Communications received a number of calls from a residence in the 200 block of West 11th Street. The caller requested medical attention, but was unable to come to the door. Officers forced entry into the residence and found one male subject in need of medical attention. The male was transported to the Bothwell Hospital for care.

Saturday afternoon, an Officer observed a traffic crash in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Emmett Avenue. The odor of marijuana was coming from one of the cars. A probable cause search of the car found marijuana. The marijuana was seized for destruction, and no charges were sought.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of South Lamine Avenue Sunday morning in reference to property damage. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Cheryl M. Kalkman, who stated someone threw a tire iron through her window. Kalkman did not see the suspect. The value of the damage was estimated at $200.00. No arrests have been made at this time.

Saturday afternoon, a subject came into the Police Department lobby to hand over a cell phone found near East 4th Street and South New York Avenue. Attempts were made to contact the owner to give the cell phone back. The cell phone was entered into evidence for safekeeping.

Sunday evening, Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of West 32nd Street and Clinton Road. All subjects were identified, and their information was ran through Dispatch. It was confirmed the passenger had an active warrant for their arrest. Brandon Paxton, 29, of Smithton, was arrested for his Probation Violation warrant for Failure to Yield to Law Enforcement (Flashing Lights). Paxton was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrant, which carried a $250 cash only bond.

Early Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Convention Hall, 1500 West 3rd Street, for a report of a suspicious subject walking around throwing rocks in the park facility. Damage was found, and the suspect is unknown at this time.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2100 block of South Engineer Avenue for a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm Saturday night. The discharge was promptly reported by the individual who had fired it. Officers arrived and completed a report on the incident.

Sunday evening, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Beacon Avenue and West 18th Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed the suspect had assaulted a female. He also resisted arrest. Cameron T. Hume, 19, of Sedalia, was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Hume was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree and Resisting Arrest. Bond and court dates for Hume are pending.

Officers responded to the Fortune Palace Restaurant, 3005 South Limit Avenue Sunday morning for a report of theft. Contact was made with a female subject, who reported that a male suspect had left the restaurant without paying the previous night. The suspect was identified, but not located.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of West 3rd Street in reference to a hit and run accident. The caller stated he stepped outside with his dog and witnessed a white passenger car cross the centerline and crash into his vehicle, which was parked on South Stewart Avenue. The vehicle then turned around and parked a few houses north of the crash scene. The driver of the white passenger car got out of the vehicle and went inside a home. The driver first denied knowledge of the accident, but eventually confessed. There was no further information in the report.

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Harrison Avenue for a report of theft. Contact was made with Morgan R. Hawkins, who stated her pistol was stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime over night.

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the Liberty Park Pool in reference to three juveniles breaking into the facility. The juveniles were located on the premises and then took off on bicycles. One juvenile was located in the 100 block of South Harrison Avenue and later turned over to a parent. No charges are being requested at this time, but Officers will follow up with the Parks Department to obtain video footage. Potential Trespass warnings may be issued.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of East 11th Street Sunday afternoon in reference to a domestic disturbance. Two subjects were physically fighting over their child. Nobody involved was injured. The incident was documented with a 12 hour log. After an investigation was complete, a court summons was issued to Charisse M. Collins, 23, of Knob Noster, for Assault. A summons for Trespassing was issued to Keiasha M. Jackson, 25, of Sedalia. The male suspect was discovered to have an active Sedalia Municipal Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of a Miscellaneous Weapon Violation. Calvin Rashod Collins, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail pending a $60 cash only bond.

Saturday morning, Officers took a report over the phone in reference to an incident of property damage. The unnamed victim stated that the previous evening, he was travelling underneath the Katy Trail overpass on Broadway Boulevard when something was thrown from it, striking the passenger side of his vehicle. Saturday afternoon, Officers took a similar report from James O. Perry. Perry stated that he was travelling underneath the Katy Trail overpass on East Broadway Boulevard when rocks were thrown from it by several juvenile suspects. Christina Lea Marshall also reported rocks were thrown at her vehicle from the Katy Trail overpass, which Marshall reported Friday afternoon. The juveniles were later located, and the case will be referred to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.

Officers and emergency personnel were dispatched to the Tambo Apartments, 1402 Liberty Park Boulevard, Saturday evening in reference to a medical call. A person was found deceased. The person was released to a funeral home per prior arrangements. No foul play was suspected.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a road rage incident. Contact was made with a female subject, how reported she witnessed two vehicles hitting each other while driving down the street.

On the morning of July 1st, Officers responded to the 300 block of West Main Street in reference to a vehicle theft. Officers made contact with the reporting party, who stated her vehicle had been stolen from the back of her building earlier that morning. Pettis County Deputies located the vehicle in the 100 block of Villa Drive. Hakeem Dickson, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for Tampering With Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree, Burglary in the 1st Degree, Stealing of a Motor Vehicle, and Stealing from a Building. Dickson was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges.

Saturday afternoon, Officers and a Deputy with the PCSO conducted a warrant check at a residence in the 900 block of West 20th Street. During the warrant check, Jessica Wissman, 37, of Sedalia, was found to have multiple warrants. Wissman had a No Bond Parole Violation Warrant, a warrant for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, and a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Wissman was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a total bond of $17,500.

Friday morning, an Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Crescent Drive in reference to an assist agency report with the Pettis County Children's Division. A report was done to document the incident.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of West Main Street Saturday morning in reference to a domestic disturbance. Both sides alleged the disturbance was physical. No primary aggressor was determined, and a 12 hour log was completed.

Friday evening, Officers met with Vicki Poort in the lobby of the Police Department. Poort reported a hit and run accident earlier that morning in the area of West 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The other driver involved fled the scene without providing contact information.

Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East 12th Street Friday afternoon in reference to a property damage report. Eddy Brown stated someone used permanent market to write several words on the side of their vehicle.

Early Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 3500 block of South Stewart in reference to an attempted theft from a vehicle. Before arrival, Officers were informed that the suspect was detained. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with all parties. The suspect was seen walking, tampering with multiple vehicles. The complainant made contact with the suspect, and he was detained. Tanner J. Leary, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for Tampering With A Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, and felony Possession of Marijuana. Leary was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be put on a 24 hour hold pending state charges.

On the evening of June 28th, Officers made contact with Dean Michael White at the Police Department. White reported he was involved in a hit and run accident. White reported that his vehicle was hit by another that fled from the scene in the 400 block of East Broadway Boulevard.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the 1400 block of West 32nd Street for a report of a physical disturbance between a male and female suspects. The suspects had left before Officers arrived, and were not located. A cell phone video taken by a witness was recovered.

On the afternoon of June 28th, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a report of stolen vehicle. Mario Ventura stated that a vehicle was stolen between the evening of June 23rd and June 28th. The vehicle was entered into NCIC and MULES as stolen.
