Sedalia Police Reports for June 16, 2021

Tuesday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of South Limit Avenue for a moving violation. The driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. James Lewis Wallace, 30, of Ionia, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and with a bond amount to be determined.

On the evening of May 7th, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 6th Street and South Emmet Avenue for a license violation. The vehicle fled, and was not pursued due to dangerous driving conditions from the suspect. The suspect was later identified and charges are being requested.

Early Tuesday morning, Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue after the registered owner of the vehicle was discovered to have an active arrest warrant. At the time of contact with the occupants, the registered owner was not present. A search was conducted of the vehicle, where the occupants were found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver was identified, and discovered to have multiple arrest warrants. Levi G. Markes, 31, of Houstonia, was arrested for his warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended, and Resisting Arrest. Markes also had a felony Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Non Support and Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Failure to Secure a Load and Failure to Properly Display License Plates. Markes also had Parole Violation warrants on Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Evidence in a Felony Prosecution. State charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia are being sought against Markes and the female occupant, Emery Nicole Shipley, 24, of Houstonia.

Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle check in the area of East 9th Street and South Garfield Avenue early Tuesday morning. The vehicle had been previously observed in motion, but it suddenly pulled to the side of the road when it observed Officers in the area. Contact was made with the occupants, where the driver was discovered to have a suspended driving status. K9 Charlie responded to the scene and was deployed around the vehicle, where he provided a positive alert to the odor of illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed the occupants were in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. James Wesley Cramer, 33, of Warsaw, and Cynthia R. Wilson, 22, of Sedalia, were both arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Both Cramer and Wilson were placed on a 24 hour hold, pending state charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to an assault with a weapon that had just occurred at the Cenex Gas station, 120 West 16th Street. Upon arrival, the suspect had left the scene. The suspect is known and charges are being submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor.

An Officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of East 10th Street Tuesday afternoon in reference to an assist agency report. The Pettis County Children's Division wanted to speak to some children who were living with another family member about an incident.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1000 block of West 7th Street in regards to a possible disturbance Tuesday afternoon. Officers determined that the claims of physical disturbance were unfounded. Drugs were found in the residence. Bryant Cortez Jackson, 38, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana and given a court date.

Tuesday afternoon, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Station lobby for a subject check. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the subject, who wanted to check if he had any warrants for his arrest. Dispatch confirmed the subject had a Pettis County warrant with an OR bond for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Stealing in the 1st Degree. David Joe Bennett, 47, Homeless, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East 6th Street in reference to a burglary. Bessie Bowers reported that in the overnight hours of the previous night, someone broke into a house and stole various items from inside.

Officers conducted a subject check near the intersection of West 3rd Street and South Kentucky Avenue Monday evening. The subject had an active warrant for his arrest. Yevgeniy Surguy, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Parole Violation warrant on original charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree, felony Harassment in the 1st Degree, felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Violation of an Order of Protection, and Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Surguy was transported to the Pettis County jail with bond set at $2,000 cash and $2,500 surety.

Sunday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 5th Street and South Lamine  Avenue for a license violation. A passenger in the vehicle had an active warrant for her arrest. Jennifer Hollobaugh, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested for her felony warrant for Possession of Hallucinogens. Hollobaugh was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a bond set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Monday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a sex crime report. The caller was a social worker for the Children's Missouri in Kansas City. They informed the officer that there was possibly a sex crime involving a minor that occurred in Sedalia.

Early Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South Barrett Avenue for a disturbance. Both parties stated there was physical contact during the disturbance. However, a primary aggressor could not be determined. The incident is being documented in a 12 hour log.

Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of West 14th Street in regards to a theft no longer in progress Monday morning. Daniel Enoch Allen Trowbridge reported that items had been stolen from their front lawn during the night, with the value totaled at $260.00. Officers conducted a subject check and revealed Trowbridge, 40, of Sedalia, had an active warrant from Pettis County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While Suspended. Trowbridge was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for the warrant. Bond was set at $250 cash only.

Monday morning, Officers responded to a theft no longer in progress that took place at the Liberty Park earlier that morning. Delmi DeJesus Medina reported the value of the item was $250.00.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Thompson Road Monday morning for a report of a subject inside that had multiple warrants for their arrest. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the subject and ran her information through Dispatch. Dispatch called and confirmed that the subject had two Failure to Appear warrants out of Pettis County on original charges of Assault in the 4th Degree, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License, two probation violation warrants out of Moniteau County for Possession of a Controlled substance, a probation violation out of Jefferson City, and a probation violation warrant out of Saline County for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Christian V. Wilson Pearl, 29, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail.
