Sedalia Police Reports For June 18, 2021

On the afternoon of June 8th, Officers met with WalMart asset protection in regards to a theft that occurred on June 6th. A female entered the store and concealed $294.66 worth of merchandise and left the store with no attempt to pay. On June 17th, the female was located and arrested. An additional $628.45 worth of stolen merchandise was located in her possession at the time. Charity S. Card, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Card was placed on a 24-hour hold, and charges of Shoplifting are being requested.

The Sedalia Police department was forwarded a referral Wednesday morning regarding a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in the 500 block of South Grand Avenue earlier in the month. Detectives are investigating the incident.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Emergency Room, 601 East 14th Street, in regard to an incident of domestic abuse that occurred earlier that day. The victim appeared to have sustained major injuries and was transported to the University Hospital in Columbia for further care. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect but were unsuccessful. A warrant request has been submitted for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree and Child Endangerment in the 2nd Degree.

Wednesday afternoon, Harvey Miller reported his license plates were stolen from the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue. The license plate was entered into a statewide database as stolen.

Sedalia Police spoke with Steven Steidley over the phone Wednesday evening in regards to disclosures made by a possible juvenile victim. The information was not detailed enough to request a forensic interview. However, follow up will be conducted.

Officers responded to the lobby of the Police Department for a possible forgery report. The victim said she shared personal information with a person she thought was her friend, but was not. No charges were sought by the victim.

Wednesday night, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a truck for expired registration in the area of West Main Street and South Limit Avenue. A check through Dispatch showed the suspect's license was barred out of Iowa. Dale Lee Anson II, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Anson was taken to the Police Department and released with a city ticket and a court date.

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Boonville Street and North New York Avenue in regard to a knife which was found in the roadway. The knife was collected and placed into Found Property.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 400 block of West 7th Street for reported harassment Thursday morning. The suspect has been identified and found.

Thursday night, Officers spoke with Justin Woolery in the lobby of the Police Department about a theft report. Woolery stated his moped was stolen and a report was made.

An Officer responded to the Police Department lobby Thursday evening to speak to Shawn Walton about a theft of utilities. Walton stated he owned a rental property where a tenant is stealing electricity. The suspect has been identified and charges are being requested to the prosecutor.

Thursday evening, Sedalia Police met with Victoria E. Smith in the lobby of the Police Department in regards to a domestic assault at Katy Park, 2200 South Grand Avenue about an hour earlier. Smith stated that the suspect attempted to hit her with his car. Charges are being requested through the prosecutor's office.

Early Friday morning, Officers were on general patrol when they observed a passenger car with no license plate lights in the area of East 15th Street and South Ingram Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted, where the driver's status was found to be suspended. Calvin L. Waller, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. A passenger, Michael R. Butler, 27, of Sedalia, was found to have a warrant for his arrest from Pettis County on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both Waller and Butler was taken to the Pettis County Jail for processing, with Butler's bond set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Early Friday morning, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a car for a defective license plate light. A check through Dispatch showed the passenger had an active Pettis County Warrant. Jeffery Loren Friedley, 37, of Cole Camp was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Animal Neglect. Friedley was taken to the Pettis County Jail and given a bond of $2,500 cash or surety.
