Sedalia Police Reports For June 2, 2022

Wednesday night, Officers conducted a vehicle stop at West Main Street and South Quincy Avenue. Officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. With consent to search the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was discovered. No charges were sought. The paraphernalia was taken into evidence.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1100 block of South Lamine Avenue Wednesday evening for a report of domestic assault. When Officers arrived, contact was made with a female subject who stated her son kicked in the front door and began assaulting her. After investigation, information was collected. A 12 hour report was completed.

On the afternoon of May 26th, a referral was received by Sedalia Police from the Children's Division. It was in regard to a sex crime committed by a juvenile. The matter was investigated and referred to the Juvenile Office.

Officers responded to the area of East 4th Street and South Engineer Avenue Wednesday morning in reference to a small child wandering the area unsupervised. Bystanders stayed with the child until Officers arrived on the scene. Employees with Washington Elementary School assisted in identifying the child and locating his address. Officers arrived at the address and found the front door opened with no one responding to calls. Officers cleared the residence and were able to locate siblings of the juvenile. No one was injured or distressed. The child was returned to the care of his family. A report was made to the Child Abuse Hotline.

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Summers Pharmacy, 3400 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of suspicious activity. When Officers arrived, they spoke with staff who stated they found an item near the front door that was left overnight. The item was a black machete. Officers took the item and placed it in to evidence storage. The subject who left the item was not identified.

Sedalia Police responded to the 2900 block West 11th Street Wednesday night for a report of a juvenile smoking marijuana inside her mother's residence. When Officers arrived, contact was made with the mother and the juvenile. While speaking with the juvenile and her mother, the juvenile exited the residence. A report was completed and the juvenile was entered into NCIC as a runaway.
