Sedalia Police Reports For March 26, 2021

Thursday evening, Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of trespassing. A female subject whom Officers had previously issued a trespass warning to was at the residence and trying to enter the house. Jasmine U. McCartney, 30, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 2nd Degree and taken to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Chestnut Street Thursday night for a concerned parent reporting information about a student bringing a gun to school being circulated. Officers gathered the information and contacted the school. The school staff and security were already aware of the comments made and were working on a solution.

Thursday evening, a car was stopped in the area of South Engineer Avenue and East 7th Street for an unreadable temporary tag. The car was also observed weaving. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was in possession of marijuana, impaired by drugs, and driving without a license. Lashawn Stewart, 25, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest, transported to a hospital, and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Stewart was booked in on state charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Operating a Vehicle Without a Valid License, and Possession of Marijuana, pending release to a sober person.

Sedalia Police responded to the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant, 4401 Wisconsin Avenue, in reference to a medical report Thursday night. The caller informed Dispatch that there was a male asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot of the restaurant. Through Officers' investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving While Suspended and Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender). Jovan K. Cruz, 28, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail after a consensual blood draw. Cruz was placed on a 24 hour hold pending official charges.

Thursday morning, a truck cut off an Officer's vehicle after improperly turning from northbound South Moniteau onto Eastbound Broadway Boulevard, going directly into the inside lane that the Officer was turning into. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the truck as it pulled into the Prime Time store, 216 West Broadway Boulevard. A DOR check revealed the driver was suspended out of Missouri. Marcos Alejo Rubio, 38, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters for Driving While Suspended. Rubio was issued a municipal summons and given a court date.

Wednesday morning, Officers performed a traffic stop in the area of East 24th Street and Acker Drive for a speeding violation. The driver was ran through a computer check which showed that she had a suspended driving status. Lashanta N. Potts, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Potts was booked and released with a pending court date.

Early Thursday morning, a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of North Engineer Avenue and East Howard Street. Through the roadside investigation, the Missouri license plate on the suspect vehicle was found to be improperly displayed and expired. The license plate was seized and will be returned to the Department of Revenue. Charges are not being sought.

Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally Court in regard to shots fired. Brett Hocking, Dianna Nease, and David Doyle reported a subject had gotten into a physical altercation and fired two shots at them. The suspect had left the area by the time Officers arrived. The following charges are being requested: Assault in the 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Wednesday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Ensign in regard to a burglary. Santasha Zullig reported that suspects were banging on the door and announcing themselves as the police. The suspects were found on Deseret and stated that they'd made a mistake in the house they went to, explaining that all the houses look alike.

Wednesday afternoon, Sedalia Police took a report regarding a vehicle which had been stolen the previous night from the lot of the DIY Garage, 110 West 17th Street. Trevor Townlain reported that they were having their vehicle worked on, and it was stolen off the lot of the auto shop. The keys to the vehicle were secured in the shop at the time of the incident. DIY Garage has video of the incident.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Menard's store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, for report of a subject trespassing Thursday afternoon. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the suspect. His information was checked and it was revealed he had a felony warrant from Pettis County. Officers took Kevin A. Clark, 41, of Hughesville into custody and transported him to the Pettis County Jail. Clark was also issued a trespass warning for the Menard's property. Clark was held pending he post bond for $5,000 cash or surety.

Wednesday evening, James Barnes came to the lobby of the Police Department and reported that someone had come to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway the previous day and stole four items. They then conducted a fraudulent return for $400.69.
