Sedalia Police Reports For March 31, 2023

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Vermont Avenue for a call regarding destroyed property. Upon arrival, Officers gathered information to generate a report.

Sedalia Police took a report from a female in the lobby of the Police Department Wednesday evening. The female reported a violation of an order of protection. A report was completed, and charges have been submitted.

Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard Wednesday night for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, Officers gathered the necessary information to generate a report, and submitted formal charges to the prosecutor's office.

Early Friday morning, Officers responded to the 900 block of West 10th Street to investigate a report of domestic assault, property damage, and stealing. The victim reported the suspect assaulted her, damaged her property, then stole her debit card. State charges of Domestic Assault, Property Damage, and Stealing are being submitted against the suspect.

Thursday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard. During the stop, the driver was discovered to have a warrant for their arrest. Michael David Thomlinson, 30, Homeless, was arrested for his Pettis County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, and a Montieau County FTA warrant for the same charge. Thomlinson was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a total cash only bond of $347.00.

Sedalia Police responded to the 900 block of South Harrison Avenue to investigate the theft of an all terrain vehicle Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers met with Blake McCoy. McCoy stated that sometime between the evening of March 28th and the afternoon of March 29th, someone stole a 125cc ATV from this garage, valued at $1200. There are no suspects at this time.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 1300 block of West 16th Street to investigate reported damage to a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers observed the driver's side mirror was broken off of the caller's vehicle. According to the caller, Henry Allen Durrill, the damaged occurred at some point overnight. It is unknown was caused the damage to the caller's vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.

Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Warren Avenue in reference to a welfare check Thursday morning. While on scene, Officers recovered a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was towed and the owner was later notified about the stolen vehicle.

On the afternoon of March 25th, Officers responded to the 1800 block of West 3rd Street to investigate a reported peace disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers spoke to all parties involved and learned a verbal altercation had occurred. Officers are requesting charges of Peace Disturbance against the suspect, who was not named in the report.

Thursday afternoon, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Road in reference to a pedestrian accident. Investigation revealed that two juveniles were attempting to cross Broadway Boulevard east of Industrial Road from south to north, pushing their bicycles. The two juveniles were waiting in the center lane when traffic began to slow and stop for them. The juveniles then attempted to cross the westbound lanes, but were struck by a Nissan passenger car in the outside westbound lane. A 14 year old juvenile sustained serious injuries and was transported to Missouri University Hospital by PCAD. The second juvenile, a 13 year old, did not complain of injury. The crash remains under investigation by the Sedalia Police Department Traffic Unit. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the Traffic Unit at 660-826-8100.

Sedalia Police were sent to a vacant house in the 100 block of South Stewart Avenue Thursday morning. The owner of the property advised there were two subjects inside the residence who he wanted removed. Two Officers made entry and immediately detected a strong odor of exhaust fumes. Despite the overwhelming fumes, both Officers were able to traverse the entire residence. They found two unresponsive adults in a back bedroom. Officers determined the two were likely overdosing. Doses of NARCAN were administered. Officers also became aware of and were alarmed by the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. Sedalia Officers worked together to carry both adults into the backyard and into fresh air. PCAD had also arrived on scene and took over lifesaving measure, transporting them both to the BRHC. Sedalia Fire also arrived on scene and found the residence contained levels of carbon monoxide so high, it could be fatal within an hour of constant exposure.

Thursday morning, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 500 block of North Washington Avenue. The suspect was arrested for a Pettis County warrant. Darwin M. Potts, 51, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on his warrant on charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $2500 cash or surety.

Wednesday evening, Sedalia Police took a report of theft that had occurred on March 12th. The reporting party stated her boyfriend loaned their vehicle to some acquaintances. When the vehicle was picked up, an electric scooter and subwoofers were stolen from the vehicle. The reporting party received information that the scooter had been pawned at Family Pawn in Warrensburg. The reporting party wants to press charges.

Officers took a report in the SPD lobby from Mackenzie Bond Wednesday evening in reference to theft. Bond stated they were scammed out of money via Facebook marketplace. At this time, the investigation is still ongoing and a report was taken.
