Sedalia Police Reports For May 10, 2021

Early Monday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally Court in reference to a disturbance with weapons. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the victim, who said her boyfriend had gotten angry and started cutting up furniture in her apartment. The victim was able to get the suspect out of the house. The suspect had left the area prior to Officer's arrival. A request for charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Officers conducted a subject check in the parking lot of the Boonslick Regional Library, 219 West Third Street Monday morning. The intoxicated subject broke a window of a parked van and was kicking the side of the van when Officers arrived. Jonathon Bryce Holland, 22, Homeless, was arrested for Property Damage in the 1st Degree.

Sedalia Police conducted a subject check near the Bandana's restaurant, 2909 West Broadway Boulevard early Monday morning. The subject fled on foot and was captured after a brief foot pursuit. During a search, the suspect was found to be in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine. David JW Park, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.

Friday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Prospect Avenue and West 14th Street after recognizing the driver as a wanted person. The driver's identity was confirmed, and Nolan Ryan Smith, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested on his active Cooper County warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with bond set at $7,500 cash or surety. Smith was also given a charge of Driving While Revoked.

Sunday night, Officers were notified of a theft that occurred in the 600 block of South Moniteau. Diane Burke told Officers a purse containing debit cards and about $30 in cash was stolen from a parked vehicle. A subject of interest has been named in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.

On the night of May 8th, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the Steak and Shake restaurant, 4203 Wisconsin Avenue, for a license violation. A passenger in the vehicle had three active warrants for his arrest. Michael Joseph Hertel, 21, was arrested for Failure to Appear warrants on Operating a Vehicle in a Careless Manner, Failing to Register a Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Total bond on the three warrants was set at $479.

Sedalia Police made a traffic stop in the 1800 block of East 7th Street for numerous traffic violations Sunday afternoon. Officers made contact with the driver, who stated he had a revoked license, which was confirmed by Dispatch. Christopher D. Cowles, 46, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Driving While Revoked and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Sunday afternoon, Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving at a speed of 77 miles an hour in a 35 mile per hour zone near Thompson Boulevard, and West 10th Street. Contact was made with the driver, David D. Arabadzhi, 17, of Sedalia. Arabadzhi was issued a citation for Careless and Imprudent Driving with a court date.

Friday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for a traffic violation. The driver was discovered to be in possession of marijuana. Justin L. Pruett, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Sedalia Police responded to the Somerset Apartments in the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive for a report of a burglary no longer in progress Sunday afternoon. John Bohon reported a storage unit on the property had been broken into and the items taken were valued at $500.

Officers conducted a warrant check in the 400 block of South Grand Avenue Sunday morning. The subject with warrants was reportedly selling drugs from the house. The subject was not located at the residence, but drugs and paraphernalia were seized from the residence. A report was completed to document the incident.

Late Sunday night, Officers responded to the 600 block of West 4th Street in reference to a suicidal subject. Upon arrival, a male suspect was highly intoxicated. The male suspect failed to obey lawful orders. Jacob Edward Masters, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested and put on a 12 hour protective hold, and was also issued a citation for Failing to Obey/Resisting Arrest with a court date.

Saturday evening, Officers conducted a warrant check in the area of East 7th Street and South New York Avenue. Two suspects, a male and a female, with active warrants were located inside the house. Jeremiah Jones, 41, of Mora, had a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, and a warrant on charges of Burglary in the 1st Degree and three counts of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. Talitha M. Parkhurst, 25, Homeless, was arrested on her warrants for felony Resisting Arrest and Stealing. Both were arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 400 block of West 6th Street Saturday evening in reference to an assault between a male and a female. Both subjects were identified and a municipal summons was issued to Larry W. Williams, 60, of Sedalia, for Assault.

Saturday morning, Officers conducted a subject check at the Open Door Kitchen, 417 West Pettis Street. The subject was found to have a no bond Benton County warrant for felony Resisting Arrest. John Douglas Cole, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested at the scene. Cole was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for the warrant. A court date is to be determined.

Sedalia Police met with management of National TV Sales and Rental, 415 North Missouri Avenue, in reference to a failure to return rental property report Saturday morning. Management advised that three household items were rented to a subject in February of 2021. The subject made a couple of payments, but has since fallen behind and refuses to return the property. State charges of Failure to Return Rental Property are being requested on the suspect.

Friday afternoon, Officers received a call about a suicidal subject whose location was unknown. Officers were able to make phone contact with the subject, and over the course of two hours, spoke to him and finally convinced him to seek treatment. The subject went willingly into custody of the Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies from the 100 block of Wimer Road in LaMonte. The subject was taken to the Bothwell Hospital and began mental treatment.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Cooper Court Street for a report of possible drug activity Friday evening. At the residence, contact was made with two male subjects. One was recognized to have an active arrest warrant. The male suspect was arrested and searched, and found to be in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. Gordell Eugene Poindexter, 30, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail. At the jail, Poindexter was provided no bond for the active warrant, which was issued by the US Marshall's Service for a federal Probation Violation. Poindexter was also placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Marijuana.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of South Ingram for an assist agency report. Upon arrival, Police met with the Children's Division, who asked a juvenile some questions. The juvenile stated that a few months ago, her mother's ex boyfriend had possibly assaulted her.

Sedalia Police met with a subject in the lobby of the Police Department who believed they had a warrant and was there to turn themselves in. The subject was confirmed to have a Pettis County warrant and was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Daniel L. Windfield, 22, of Sedalia, was booked on his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Possession of Marijuana. Windfield was given a bond of $100 and a new court date.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a found property report. The Officer was unable to make contact with the property owners, so they were placed into evidence for safe keeping.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1100 block of East 11th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance Friday afternoon. Officers made contact with the two parties, who are related. They both admitted to having been involved in a physical disturbance during which both sustained minor injury. A primary physical aggressor could not be determined; a 12 hour log was entered.

Friday afternoon, Officers met with Daniil V Shuryhin in the lobby of the Police Department. Shuryhin stated that their passport was lost some time in the last year. A general information report was taken.

Sedalia Police responded to the Open Door Ministries, 612 South Hancock, Friday morning in reference to a counterfeit bill. Upon arrival, Officers met with management, who advised someone had passed a fake $50 bill the evening before.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South State Fair Boulevard and West Main Street for a license violation Friday night. An occupant of the vehicle was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Alexander Rhea Logan, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug.

Friday night, Officers conducted a vehicle check behind Schilby's, 3919 South Limit Avenue. The passenger of the second vehicle, Teresa A Estes, 51, of Sedalia, was in possession of marijuana and was issued a citation.
