Sedalia Police Reports For May 17, 2023

Early Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of South Prospect Avenue in reference to a disturbance. When Officers arrived, both parties had left the area. The female was located a short time later. She had been forcefully removed from the residence. A request for the charge of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a trespassing report last Friday morning. Officers made contact with the subject and checked his information with Dispatch. Jeremiah N. Jones, 43, of Mora, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Trespassing. Jones was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash only bond of $60.00.

Monday evening, Officers responded to the area of James Road and Clinton Road in reference to an assault report. Officers made contact with the victim, who stated they were slapped by an ex’s mother. Officers were able to contact the mother. Chelsea D. Younce, 34, of Sedalia, was issued a municipal citation for Assault with a court date.

Sedalia Police conducted a subject check at the Bothwell Emergency Room, 601 East 14th Street on Tuesday evening. Officers contacted a female subject that had an active Failure to Appear warrant for her arrest. Sarita Linda Leon, 61, of Sedalia, was arrested for her FTA warrant on original charges of Stealing. Leon was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked pending a $250 cash only bond.

Early Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the 1100 block of E. 10th in reference to a nuisance. The complainant stated that a white female subject was running around naked. Officers quickly arrived on scene and contacted the naked female, who was highly intoxicated. Nickie Elaine Smith, 37, Homeless, was arrested for Safekeeping. Smith was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold. No charges were submitted.

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to an animal complaint. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Agustin Cano Rodriguez Jr., who stated his dog had died, and he suspected foul play. The suspected foul play took place in the 300 block of West 10th Street. No arrests have been made at this time.

Monday night, Officers were on general patrol in the area of South Kentucky Avenue and West 20th Street. They observed a man walking in the area, and attempted to speak with him. The man fled the scene. A report was completed for documentation.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the area of West Main Street and South Missouri Avenue for a subject check. After an on-scene investigation, one male subject was arrested. Gabriel Arthur Laclair, 42, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Laclair was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East 2nd Street Tuesday morning for a report of found property. Terry L. Perriguey reported he had located a small baggie of a green, leafy substance. The baggie was placed into evidence for destruction.

Medical Personnel and Sedalia Police responded to the 600 block of East 15th Street Monday morning. It was determined after arrival the subject had already passed away. The Pettis County Deputy Coroner soon arrived on scene as well. There were no signs of foul play, and the death could be due to natural causes.

Tuesday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 9th Street and Thompson Avenue. A computer check of the driver showed they did not have a valid driver’s license. Jeronimo H. Castillo Vasquez, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested for No Operator’s License. Vasquez was booked and released on state charges.
