This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department crime reports.

Monday evening, Officers responded to the 600 block of Wilkerson Street in reference to an animal bite. Officers spoke with Auerlio Martinez, who stated a neighbor's dog entered their yard and attacked his dog. The dog was injured and the suspect's dog returned home. The report was sent to animal control.


 

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to area near Winchester Drive and Leroy Van Dyke Boulevard to assist with a traffic stop. The vehicle had been stopped for numerous violations, including crossing into oncoming traffic lanes. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Megan Sayadinejad, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Sayadinejad was transported to the SPD, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC to be above 0.08. Sayadinejad was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for DWI and released.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a theft report. William SD Sanchez reported one of two license plates were stolen off of of his vehicle in the 400 block of Morgan Street. The license plate was entered into NCIC and MULES as stolen.


 

Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Broadway Boulevard Monday afternoon. At the residence, Officers spoke to an intoxicated subject who resided there. A computer check revealed he had a felony warrant from Pettis County on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, with a $10.000 cash or surety bond. Laparis George Moore, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at the red light at West 4th Street and South Ohio Avenue. While speaking with the driver, Officers believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. After an investigation, Johnny Resendiz Chavez, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign and Driving While Intoxicated. Chavez was transported to the Pettis county Jail where he was booked and released to a sober person.

Sunday morning, an SUV was stopped in the area of East 24th Street and South Ohio Avenue for failing to stop at the red light and failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. While speaking with the driver, Officers believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. After an investigation, Christopher A. Newton, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested Driving While Intoxicated. Newton was transported to the Pettis county Jail where he was booked and released to a sober person.


 

Officers stopped an SUV near East Jefferson Street and North Ohio Avenue Sunday night. The vehicle was stopped because it had no front license plate, an improper rear palate, and had showed indicators of drunk driving. The driver was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a controlled substance. Alexandria Marie Guerra, 25, of Cole Camp, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Guerra was placed on a 24 our hold at the Pettis County Jail.


 

Early Sunday morning, Sedalia Police stopped a Jeep in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue. The vehicle was following too closely, speeding, and failing to maintain its lane. The driver was arrested on a state charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Kentrail Demarcus Clay, 37, o Raytown, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Following Too Closely, and Improper Lane Usage. Clay was placed on a 12 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.


 

Officers responded tot he 500 block of East 3rd Street Sunday morning in reference to a possible property damage. Robert S. Appleman stated items belonging to him had been set ablaze overnight. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

Saturday morning, Officers performed a traffic stop on a gray Dodge Caliber for multiple traffic violations in the 2500 block of West 16th Street. A computer check of the driver confirmed she had no operator's status. Alma Morales-Meza, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Operator's License Required. Meza was transported to the SPD to be fingerprinted, and was released with a summons.


 

Saturday morning, Jason Colby Sauerbrei came to the SPD to report an assault that had occurred the night before in the 1400 block of West 3rd Street. Charges will be submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor for review.


 

Sedalia Police took a burglary report in the 1900 block of South Par Avenue Sunday morning. Tandis June Williams stated sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, someone kicked in the front door to her residence in the 1900 block of South Park Avenue and caused damage.


 

On the evening of May 26th, Officers responded to the 600 block of West 6th Street to check on an unresponsive subject. When Officers arrived on scene it was confirmed the subject was deceased. The subject was taken to the Rea Funeral Home for arrangements.


 

Saturday night, a subject was arrested out of the Police Department lobby on two Pettis County warrants. Original charges on the warrants were for felony Harassment in the 1st Degree and and felony Property Damage in the 1st Degree. Total bond on the warrants was set at $10,000 cash or surety.  Cody Christian Paxton, 30, of Sedalia, was booked in on his warrants at the Pettis County Jail.


 

Friday night, a car was located in a ditch with the driver in it by the 1300 block of North Missouri Avenue The driver was intoxicated and arrested for DWI. David S Cavazos, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender) and Driving While Revoked. Cavazos was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 1500 block of East 12th Street regarding a violation of an order of protection. The reporting party received messages from the subject. No arrest have been made at the time of the report.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1300 block of South Hancock Avenue for having expired registration. The vehicle fled from Officers, but eventually stopped in the 700 block of East 16th Street. Seth Eugene Hull, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked, Resisting Arrest, Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 2nd Degree, Failure to Properly Display License Plates, and Child Passenger Restraint System Violations. Hull was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold.


 

Officers responded to the 700 block of South New York Avenue for reports of a structure fire in progress late Friday night. Upon arrival, a small shed was fully engulfed in flames. Surrounding vehicles were damaged in the fire, but no injuries were reported. The Sedalia Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the flames.


 

On the night of May 23rd, a car was stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue after it was observed having a headlight out, had no license plates, and was speeding. Kwan Tavro Watkins Jr., 18, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Watkins was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released on the charge.


Friday afternoon, a subject turned in a cell phone they had found in the 300 block of Scott Joplin Court. The owner could not be identified, so the phone was placed into evidence as found property.


Friday morning, Officers observed a wanted individual in the 100 block of East Boonville Street. Her warrants were confirmed. She had two FTA warrants issued by Pettis and Johnson Counties for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. She also had a Probation Violation warrant with no bond on charges of Stealing Leased or Rented Property. She was declared medically fit for confinement before being transported to the Pettis County Jail. Additional charges are being sought as the suspect failed to register her home address as a sex offender. Cynthia Jean Snow, 57, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, her Parole Violation warrant, and her Failure to Appear warrants. No bond was given.
