Sedalia Police Reports for November 6, 2020

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Broadway and Montgomery for a license plate light out and failure to signal a turn on Thursday night at 11:07 p.m. Investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of marijuana and impaired by drugs. 27-year-old Michael Joseph Amos of Sedalia was arrested for DWI-drugs and possession of marijuana. He was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center, then on to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released to a sober person.

On Thursday at 1:57 a.m., Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 9th and Limit. A computer check revealed that the driver, 59-year-old Norma J. Combs of Sedalia, was wanted on three FTA Municipal warrants. She was arrested and now has a court date of Dec. 2. Bond amount was $180.

Sedalia Police took a theft report on Thursday evening in the 300 block of Randolph. According to the report, the victim voluntarily gave someone on Instagram $100 with a promise from the perpetrator to pay them back $500. The transaction turned out to be a scam.

Sedalia Police responded to 2700 West Broadway on a vehicle check Thursday at 12:30 p.m. A computer check revealed that the vehicle was stolen from outside the county. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Broadway and Marvin on a truck for no license plate lights at 7:22 p.m. Thursday. A computer check revealed that the driver, 35-year-old Jacob Edward Masters of Sedalia, was driving while revoked. He was also charged with failure to maintain financial responsibility. Masters was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Broadway and Arlington Thursday at 8:55 p.m. on a black Ford SUV with expired plates. A computer check revealed that the driver, 62-year-old Darreld Leon Belle of Sedalia, was driving while suspended out of California. Belle was arrested, then released at the scene.

Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of West Cooper around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. 53-year-old Michele Davenport was found to be arguing with area residents. She was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold.

Sedalia Police responded to 823 W. 5th on a violation of a protection order. 39-year-old Jared Ward Sanders was found sitting on the front porch of the residence when officers arrived. Sanders was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending action by the prosecutor's office.

Sedalia Police took a report of an accident that occurred at Lowe's, 3811 W. Broadway, on Thursday after 5 p.m. The caller was at home when he realized his vehicle was damaged, believing it happened at Lowe's.

On Thursday morning just before 11, Sedalia Police responded to a theft in progress at Dollar General, 4215 East Broadway. The complainant stated that a female suspect was concealing items while inside the store. The female exited a short time later and was taken into custody. According to the report, she had multiple items concealed in a large purse. The suspect had previously been trespassed from all Sedalia Dollar General stores, it was noted. A computer check of the vehicle the suspect used to drive to the store revealed that the vehicle was stolen out of Pettis County. The suspect, 43-year-old Nicole Rae Chumpraphai of Sedalia, was placed under arrest, and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was charged with stealing, 2nd degree burglary, and 1st degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

On Thursday, Sedalia Police took a report from a woman in the 1300 block of E. 4th, who said her juvenile son damaged her vehicle and a window at her residence. The Juvenile Probation officer was contacted concerning the incident.

Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance at 1718 South Harrison around noon on Thursday. A computer check revealed that 28-year-old Shawna C. Blackmore of the address, was wanted for a probation violation out of Pettis County. Blackmore was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail. Her bond was $2,000 cash and $2,500 surety ($4,500).

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 10th and Grand on a vehicle with a driver known to have no driver's license at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday. 58-year-old Reggie E. Townsend of Sedalia was arrested after a computer check revealed he was not a valid driver in Missouri. Townsend was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released. State charges were requested.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a silver Ford Taurus at Broadway and Missouri on Wednesday just before 1 p.m. 41-year-old Alfonso D. Kirkwood of Sedalia was wanted on a warrant. He was also in possession of marijuana, according to the report. Kirkwood was taken to the Pettis County Jail. His bond was set at $7,500.

Sedalia Police took a hit-and-run report on Wednesday at 12:48 p.m. at Broadway and Thompson. Wayne A. Sartain, Jr., reported his vehicle was struck by another motorist, who then left the scene.
