Sedalia Police Reports For October 12, 2022

Early Wednesday morning, a truck was stopped in the area of West 27th Street and South Grand Avenue, because it had failed to stop prior to the stop line at West 24th and Grand. It also was failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. The driver was found to have a revoked Missouri driver's license, and was intoxicated by drugs. He refused a blood draw, and a search warrant was obtained so blood could be collected at the hospital. Timothy Ray Keizer Smith, 34, of Leavenworth Kansas, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Driving While revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs).

Officers conducted a subject check at the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street Wednesday morning on a subject known to them to have an active warrant. Officers identified the subject, and confirmed the warrant with Dispatch. Linsday Deann Brown, 25, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Brown was transported to the Pettis County jail to be booked pending a $147 cash only bond.

Sedalia Police conducted a subject check on a bicycle that was riding in the middle of the road with no lights on in the early morning hours Wednesday. The subject was identified and his information was checked with Dispatch. It was confirmed he had an active warrant out of Clay County for Contempt of Court. Randy Grant, 32, of Kansas City, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his warrant with a cash only bond of $5,406.46.

Tuesday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had expired license plates and no license plate light. Officers identified all occupants, and ran their information with Dispatch. Dispatch stated that the passenger of the vehicle had an active warrant out of Pettis County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without A Valid License. Matthew Gene Looney, 38, of Camdenton, was placed under arrest for the warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash only bond of $250.00.

A van was stopped in the area of West Main Street and South Kentucky Avenue Tuesday evening because it had a headlight out. It was determined the driver was intoxicated. David Cooper, 42, of Chicago Illinois, was placed under arrest. Cooper was transported to the hospital, then to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on a state charge of Driving While Intoxicated pending release to a sober person.

Tuesday evening, Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Department of child endangerment. A concerned family member reported an incident involving a juvenile in the 1300 block of East 7th Street. The incident is under investigation.

Late Monday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a car in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue because it had no license plate lights, and it showed an expired temporary tag. A warrant check revealed the driver had a Failure to Appear warrant out of Clinton on charges of Expired Plates and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, and another Failure to Appear warrant out of Warrensburg for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Winston Douglas Thomas, 52, of Clinton, was arrested on both warrants and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, pending a total cash or surety bond of $450.00.

An SUV was stopped for moving violations in the area of West 14th Street and South Kentucky Avenue early Tuesday morning. The vehicle was observed just prior, when a male driver switched places with a female. The male had no driver's license, and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The female was intoxicated by drugs and was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both were taken to the Pettis County Jail, and both were placed on 24 hour hold. Lexxus E. Mitchell, 27, of Sedalia, was booked in on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Richard D. Bartlett, 22, of Sedalia, was booked in on charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License.

Early Tuesday morning, Officers stopped a car as it pulled into Taco Bell, 820 South Limit Avenue because it had expired registration. A DOR check revealed the driver's license was suspended. Ezra Jackson Greene, 22, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on a state charge of Driving While Suspended and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Police Station lobby to make contact with a subject who wanted to report someone trying to fraudulently use her account number to make purchases in Kansas City. Officers made contact with Savannah L. Sauls. Sauls stated her bank advised her to make a report with the Police so they could continue the investigation. There are no suspects at this time.

On the morning of October 11th, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of North Cedar Drive for a welfare check. After arriving on the scene, it was determined that the individual inside the residence was in need of emergency medical assistance. Entry was made into the residence. The individual was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Probation and Parole Office, 205 Thompson Road Tuesday morning for a report of a subject there with a felony parole violation warrant with no bond. When Officers arrived, they made contact and confirmed the warrant with Dispatch. Jerrell Johnson, 32, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Johnson would be held there pending release by his parole officer or transported to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Stewart Avenue for a report of theft. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Terez D. Lewis. Lewis stated that sometime overnight, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole $700 in cash. A suspect was named, but at the time of the report, had not been located for questioning.
