Sedalia Police Reports For October 6, 2021

Monday afternoon, an Officer initiated an investigative stop on a car in the area of West Main Street and South Limit Avenue because the driver appeared to be a subject with warrants and a suspended license. The Officer made contact with the subject, recognized them to be a different subject, who it was believed had a revoked license. A check through Dispatch confirmed the subject's license was revoked. James Edward Chapman, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested, taken to the Pettis County Jail, and booked on a charge of Driving While Revoked.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Tuesday afternoon in regards to a theft report. It was discovered that an employee was stealing from the business. Tayler Madison Cochran, 18, of Sedalia, was interviewed and released with a summons for Shoplifting.

Late Tuesday night, Officers were alerted to a hit and run accident by witnesses near Magnolia and South Moniteau Avenue. Officers located the suspect vehicle on South Moniteau Avenue past West 17th Street, where they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When Officers made contact with the driver, the strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driver's license and was intoxicated. Marijuana and alcohol were also found in the vehicle. Hayden Wayne Martin, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he refused to provide a blood sample. A search warrant was obtained, and Martin was transported to the BRHC for a blood draw. Martin was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he placed on a 24 hour hold. A request for the charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), Driving While Suspended, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Possession of Marijuana, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a disturbance in the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue Tuesday night. When Officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who said she had been in a physical altercation with her mother. Officers spoke to the suspect, who denied causing the injury. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect was the primary physical aggressor. Anita Marie Burke, 48 of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center ER for an intoxicated subject disturbing the peace. Contact was made with the subject, who was uncooperative. Spencer Dudley Ross, 51, Address Unknown, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was charged with Peace Disturbance. Ross was to be booked and released pending that he was sober upon release, or a sober subject picked him up.

Sedalia Police observed a vehicle with license plates that expired in May 2017 driving east on Main Street from Oak Grove Lane Tuesday evening. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver pulled into an unnamed automotive repair shop. Officers informed the driver of the reason for the stop, and found the driver was dropping off the vehicle to get new tires. A check of the driver was done and found the driver's status was suspended. William Scott Gudde, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Police Department for fingerprinting. Gudde was then released with a summons for Driving While Suspended.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers conducted a vehicle stop at East 6th Street and South Lamine Avenue for a traffic violation. The operator was found to have a revoked driving status. During a search of the operator's person, Officers located items related to illegal drug use on their person. Floyd E. Flippin Jr., 55, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Driving While Revoked and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of East 7th Street for a report of a missing juvenile subject that never showed up to school. It was later determined that the missing juvenile was with another juvenile and they had showed up to school. There will be a juvenile referral report made for the subject.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1800 block of South Lafayette Avenue for a disturbance Monday afternoon. Contact was made with a female subject, who reported that a male subject had assaulted her and fled from the scene before Officers arrived.

On the afternoon of September 29th, Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Asian Buffet, 3406 West Broadway Boulevard for a reported disturbance. One of the parties was found to be in violation of a court order. Austin Lee Wood, 25, of Lebanon, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Violation of a Full Order of Protection and released.

Monday afternoon, Officers spoke with a juvenile who alleged they were assaulted in Oregon, Missouri, earlier in the year. The report is being generated to document what occurred in this jurisdiction.
