Sedalia Police Reports For September 13, 2021

Saturday afternoon, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Casey's store, 3050 South Limit Avenue in reference to a theft. When Officers arrived, they spoke with the caller, who said she had sat her money on the counter and left without picking it up. When she returned moments later, the money was gone. A suspect, Carl E. Johnson, 61, Homeless, was later identified and arrested. A request for the charge of Stealing was submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police observed a vehicle that was swerving back and forth in its lane on West Broadway Boulevard Saturday morning. As the vehicle passed State Fair Boulevard, it crossed the divided lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Domingo Sis Castro, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Castro provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Castro was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket with a court date and released to a sober driver.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without a front license plate on Thompson Road near West Broadway Boulevard Saturday morning. When Officers made contact with the driver, the odor of alcohol was detected on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Juan Fernando Linares, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Linares provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Linares was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 12 hour protective custody hold. A charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender) has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sunday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Williams Woody Nissan, 3600 South Limit Avenue, for a report of a vehicle with the alarm going off. While checking the area, the caller called back and stated he saw a male subject leaving from the area. Officers arrived to find no one in the area, but did find a vehicle with the alarm going off. A window had been broken and someone attempted to steal the vehicle by disabling the ignition. There are no suspects at this time.

Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street Sunday evening in reference to a kidnapping. The victim stated a white/Hispanic male tried to grab her and force her into a vehicle. The victim was able to get away and get to the hospital. A report was taken at the hospital of the incident.

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Casey's store, 3050 South Limit Avenue for a report of found contraband. Upon arrival, a baggie of methamphetamine was located on the ground. The owner of the methamphetamine was not located, and the baggie was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the 2100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of fraud. Contact was made with Cheryl Ann Ames, a member of a local real estate agency. Ames reported that an unknown subject attempted to scam her business out of money.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Department Lobby Saturday afternoon for a report of property damage. Upon arrival, Officers met with the caller, who stated that around 12:44 a.m., someone threw a rock through the window of the Discount Smoke Shop, 709 East Broadway. The caller was able to provide video footage of the suspect.

Sunday morning, Officers initiated an investigative traffic stop on a car near West Main Street and South Park Avenue, in which the registered owner's driver's license was suspended. A check through Dispatch showed the driver of the car was the owner, and her license was suspended. Brooke Ashley Adams, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Police Department. Adams was released with a city ticket for Driving While Suspended and given a court date.

Officers were dispatched to a theft report Sunday morning in the 500 block of East 2nd Street. Marissa McLaughlin said a Next brand little girl's bike was stolen out of their yard.

Sunday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the Emergency Room of the Bothwell Regional Health Center 601 East 14th Street. The staff found a small plastic baggie of methamphetamine on a patient who came in for treatment. The plastic baggie was seized and placed into evidence for destruction.

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 100 block of Summer Avenue for a disturbance. Officers made contact with the caller and other parties. A 12 hour log was completed. There was no further information in the report.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 700 block of West 3rd Street for a report of an assault that took place Sunday morning. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the victim, who stated a known suspect broke into her house and hit her in the head with a large piece of wood. The victim had a noticeable injury to her head. Charges of Assault in the 2nd Degree and Burglary in the 1st Degree are being sought.

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the area of West 18th Street and South Prospect Avenue for a reported juvenile runaway. When Officers arrived, they located the male juvenile being restrained by his father. The juvenile was taken home.

Saturday night, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of East 3rd Street and South Mill Street for a traffic violation. The driver was found to be in possession of contraband. The driver was released from the scene and the contraband was transported to the Police Department. The contraband was entered into evidence to be destroyed.

Sedalia Police responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a private property accident Saturday afternoon. The vehicles had relocated to a private residence, where the investigation took place. During the investigation, Officers learned that one of the drivers had a revoked license through Missouri and did not maintain insurance on their vehicle. Thomas L. Wiggers, 63, of Sedalia, was issued a municipal citation for Driving While Revoked and No Proof of Insurance with a court date.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 100 block of East Jackson Street in reference to a building check. The building was cleared and no one was found inside. A marijuana bong was found in plain view and seized for destruction.

Officers responded to the 700 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a theft Saturday afternoon. Officers met with Debra Chapman, who produced bank statements reflecting several fraudulent charges on her bank account. At the time of the report, there is a suspect in mind, but they have not been contacted at this time.

Friday afternoon, an Officer responded to the area of West Main Street and North Missouri Avenue for an assault report. Contact was made with Michele Davenport, who said someone threw a fast food cup at her that spilled the soda inside on her. She wished to pursue charges.

An Officer initiated an investigative traffic stop on a car near South Grand Avenue and West 5th Street Friday afternoon because the registered owner's driver's license was suspended. A check through Dispatch showed the driver was the registered owner and his status was suspended. Michael Scott Anderson, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended, transported to the Police Department and issued a city ticket with a court date.

Early Saturday morning, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black motorcycle that was not displaying a registration plate. When Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it accelerated and failed to yield. The vehicle was later located by the Pettis County Sheriff's Office, and Aleksey N. Ryakhmyatullov, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested following another pursuit. A request for the charges of Driving While Revoked, Careless and Imprudent Driving, and Resisting Arrest have been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Ohio Avenue Friday morning. The driver was found to have no operator's license. Seth R. Borque, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested at the scene. Borque was booked and released on charges of No Operator's License.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the 300 block of South Hancock Avenue in regards to a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon investigation, Wesley T. Kern, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail. Kern was booked to be held for 24 hours pending charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Officers observed a vehicle with expired March 2021 license plates east bound on East Broadway to South Engineer Friday morning. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver The vehicle license was expired when the driver's information was checked through the computer. She was found to have a suspended license out of the state of Missouri. Jesika R. Bartlett, 30, of Sedalia, was transported to the Sedalia Police Station, issued a ticket for Driving While Suspended, fingerprinted, and released with a court date.
