Sedalia Police Reports For September 22, 2021

Early Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the 1300 block of East 5th Street in reference to a harassment report. The victim stated that she was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend via Facebook and text messages. Contact was made with the ex-boyfriend, and state charges of Harassment are being requested.

Officers observed a vehicle swerve as it was travelling down West 16th Street early Wednesday morning. A traffic stop was conducted and during the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended license. John David Jones, 60, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. A request for the charge of Driving While Suspended has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Early Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the 300 block of McAnally Court in reference to a juvenile well being check. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the parent, and were able to check on the juveniles. A general information report was taken.

Tuesday evening, Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of West Main Street and South Prospect Avenue for speeding. The driver and occupant were identified and both were arrested on outstanding warrants, possession of marijuana, and identity theft. They were transported to the Pettis County Jail, where an additional charge of introduction of contraband into a jail facility was applied. Cheyenne Sahara Dawn Smith, 24, of Sedalia, had a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Possession of Marijuana, Speeding, and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in a County Jail. Kayla Elizabeth Demshick, 25, of Sedalia, had a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Red Light Violation and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a License, charges of Possession of Marijuana, and Identity Theft. Both Smith and Demshick were booked on their warrants and new charges.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the 200 block of Thompson Road for a male subject with a Pettis County Warrant. William Lavell Taylor, 30, of Sedalia, was located and arrested for his warrant on felony charges of Delivery of Marijuana. Taylor was taken to the Pettis County Jail with a $15,000 cash or surety bond.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1400 block of South Carr Avenue for a violation of an order of protection Tuesday afternoon. Contact was made with Donald R. Knox Sr., who reported that a male subject had violated the order of protection. The suspect was located and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was able to escape from Officers. Charges were submitted to the prosecutor.

Officers were dispatched to the Koppers Industry Inc, 209 North Engineer Avenue Tuesday morning in reference to a property damage report. During the overnight hours, Michael Masters stated that there was approximately $920 worth of damage done to company vehicles.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Montgomery Circle for a report of theft. Contact was made with Troy Comley, who stated that between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, someone took his bike off of his front porch. The bike was estimated to be worth $100.

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of a stolen bicycle. Contact was made with Jason L. Vansel, who reported that his bicycle was stolen from the location that afternoon by a male suspect.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of West 16th Street for a report of theft Monday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers met with Heather Pfleiderer, who stated that sometime between September 18th and September 20th, someone stole their dog. Pfleiderer said that they had tied their dog up to their front bumper and he was no longer there after they got back from their trip.

Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the 400 block of East 6th Street for a disturbance. Due to no independent witnesses of the event, Jasmine Sereta Maria Main, 27, Angelia Ruth Asbury, 46, and Tayler Marie Asbury, 21, all of Sedalia, were issued city summonses for Public Peace Disturbance with a court date.

Officers were dispatched to the United Pentecostal Church, 2805 South Ohio Monday morning for a trespassing report. The caller stated that he no longer wanted a subject on the property. Upon arrival, Officers ran the subject's information through Dispatch and confirmed he had a warrant out of Kansas City for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Michael Vincent Frain III, 40, Homeless, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Tuesday afternoon, an Officer initiated contact with a subject in a vehicle after seeing it operate on the roadway near West Main Street and Winchester Drive with expired registration. A check through Dispatch showed the driver's license status was revoked out of Missouri. Jordan S. Mosley, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested, taken to the Police Department, and issued a city ticket for Driving While Revoked.

Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a theft report Tuesday afternoon. Officers made contact with Christina M. Clause, 32, of Marshall, and she was issued a city summons for Shoplifting with a court date.

On the afternoon of September 16th, Officers met with Monty Ellis in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a theft. Ellis stated that someone stole cash from his residence in the 400 block of Hurley Avenue. There is a suspect in mind, but they have not been contacted at the time of the report.

Sedalia Police were contacted on the morning of September 9th by the Guilford County Sheriff's Office of North Carolina in reference to a possible scam or fraud occurring within the city limits of Sedalia. This case is still under investigation.
