Early Wednesday morning, a car was stopped in the area of West 16th Street and South Beacon Avenue for following too closely. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. Hannah Jo Rodewald, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, transported to the Sedalia Police department for processing, and then released to a sober person. Municipal charges of DWI and Following Too Closely are pending.


 

Officers stopped an SUV for an expired temporary tag in the area of East 17th Street and South Engineer Avenue Tuesday night. A DOR and warrant check of the driver revealed she had two Cass County Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia, with a total bond of $500 cash only. Angelica Marie Welch, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on the warrants.


 

Tuesday night, Officers performed a traffic stop on a black Ford passenger car, as the vehicle did not have a front license plate light. The traffic stop took place in the area of South Osage Avenue and West 16th Street. Officers spoke to the driver and performed a computer check through Dispatch. The driver's license was suspended. Michael Torres, 21, of Sedalia was arrested for Driving While Suspended and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. There, Torres was fingerprinted, photographed, and released with a court date.


 

Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a silver Chrysler passenger car Tuesday evening, as the vehicle did not have any license plates. The traffic stop took place in the area of West Main Street and South Grand Avenue. Officers spoke to the driver, and a computer check through Dispatch confirmed she had two active Failure to Appear warrants. One FTA was on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless and Imprudent Manner Resulting in an Accident, Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility with a cash or surety bond of $5,000. The other FTA was on original charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a bond of $100 cash only. Megan Eliene Stevens, 28, of Green Ridge, was arrested on the warrants and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Tuesday afternoon, Sedalia Police responded to the Walgreen's, 801 South Limit Avenue, for a person they wanted to leave the store. Upon arriving, contact was made with the suspect, who refused to leave. The complainant wished to pursue charges for trespassing after she would not leave. Lori Lynn Hadley, 49, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Hadley was placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Trespassing in the 1st Degree.


 

Officers responded to the Sedalia Police Department lobby for a fraud report Tuesday morning. On arrival, they met with the victim, who made an online purchase from an internet advertisement. The victim was later instructed to purchase two Wal Mart gift cards in the amount of $500 each to assist in fixing an error on her order. The victim complied, and sent the card numbers to the suspect. At the time of the report, it is not known if she was to receive the items she purchased. A suspect in the case is unknown.


 

A few minutes after noon on Tuesday, Officers conducted a traffic stop for speeding in a school zone in the 1700 block of South Kentucky Avenue. A check of the driver through Dispatch indicated the driver's license was suspended in Missouri. Ed D. Houdek Jr., 66, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and transported to the Police Department for booking. Houdek was later released on a municipal summons and given a court date.


 

Tuesday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the 700 block of West Main Street for a burglary report. Upon arriving, Glen R. Swearingen stated that various computer equipment had been stolen. There was also damage to a television.


 

Sedalia Police spoke to Makenna B. Westhusing Tuesday morning in the lobby of the Police Headquarters in reference to a possible identity theft report. Westhusing reported that there had been purchases made on her Wal-Mart.com account that she did not authorize. When Westhusing went to check her account, she noticed that someone had added multiple debit/credit cards on her account using her information. The suspects used one of these cards to make multiple purchases earlier in the day. Westhusing stated that these cards to not belong to her.


 

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the 100 block of South Osage Avenue in reference to a stolen bicycle. Kenneth Schulte stated a bicycle was stolen off of a porch of a residence in the area. The value of the bike was estimated at approximately $399. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

On the morning of September 23rd, Officers received a Children's Division Hotline report in regards to a juvenile subject that had been sexually assaulted.


 

Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 16th Street for a report of a domestic disturbance that happened earlier in the day. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the victim. He stated that earlier in the day, he was assaulted by his ex-wife while he was in her car at the Break Time store, 808 East Broadway Boulevard. Officers took photos of where he stated that she punched him and attached photos to the report. The suspect came to the Police Station and stated that she yelled at the victim when he wouldn't get out of her car, but never touched. There was no further evidence to determine a primary aggressor. A 12 hour log report was done to document the incident.
