The Sedalia Post Office will host a “Passport Fair” this weekend, with extended hours and extra staff to assist travelers with upcoming holiday trips.

According to a press release from the Sedalia Post Office, the ‘Passport Fair’ will take place October 21, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with the REAL ID Act not in effect yet.

Post Office spokeswoman, Beth Grother, says, “Passport applicants must apply in person so many customers, especially families with children, appreciate the convenience of Saturday hours. With just one visit to the Post Office, the passport application process can be completed.”

Passport applicants must provide an “Application for Passport” Form DS-11, which can be downloaded here. Forms will also be available at the fair.

A press release from the Post Office says, applicants, including infants, must present a proof of U.S. citizenship: a previous U.S. passport or a certified birth certificate issued by a city, county or state, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Certification of Birth, a Naturalization Certificate, or a Certificate of Citizenship. A picture ID is also required.

Grother recommends visiting the Post Office as early as possible to apply for a passport, to avoid extra costs with expediting applications.

More information, including costs, can be found at usps.com/passport.
