Sedalia School District 200 has been awarded $352,490 through the School Safety Grants created by Missouri House Bill No.14.

The grant money will be used across the district to increase door access controls, video surveillance systems, automated external defibrillators, bleed control kits, radio communications, and door/window security film.

According to a statement from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education, “The purpose of this grant is to provide financial support to (local education
agencies) for school safety programs, including physical security upgrades and
associated technology … Grants will be awarded through a competitive application
process."

Jason Curry, Sedalia 200 assistant superintendent who oversees security issues, said
improvements funded by the grant will begin over the summer.

“These increased enhancements to our already established security measures will help us continue to provide the safest environment for our students, staff, and patrons,” Curry
said.
