Sedalia Police responded to a burglary call at Discount Smokes & Liquors, 2610 West Broadway, at 9:12 a.m. Sunday.

Officers discovered a window had been broken at the business sometime overnight.

Approximately $430 in nicotine products were stolen and roughly $500 worth of damage was caused.

A suspect was later located during a traffic stop in the 1300 block of South Limit for a defective brake light.

19-year-old Alexander L. Peake of Sedalia was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A computer check revealed he was also wanted on a Municipal failure to appear warrant. His court date is Feb. 28.

Peake was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of state charges for 2nd degree burglary, stealing, 2nd degree property damage, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
