Sedalia’s Weekend Events: Weekend of January 31 2014

Here's a look at what's going on this weekend! The Salvation Army of Sedalia will host a community dinner.

The dinner will take place on Friday, January 31, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 p.m.  The Salvation Army is located at 1200 East Broadway in Sedalia. The cost is $3 for dinner that includes a beverage, entree, and dessert. Proceeds benefit The Salvation Army’s World Services.

The Cabin Fever Sport Show sponsored by Angler’s Port Marine and Rustic Creek Outfitters is coming back to the Mathewson Exhibition Center on the Missouri State Fairgrounds on Feb. 1-2.

See the most monster deer in the world at the World’s Outstanding Whitetails Display, plus many booths for hunting and fishing, camping, boating, home renovation, crafts, home based businesses, body, health and beauty, kids games, fishing seminars, blacksmithing demonstrations, hourly door prizes and so much more.  Tickets to the Cabin Fever Sports Show are $4 or $2 with a food item to donate to Community Cafe. Children 12 and under are FREE.

The Salvation Army of Sedalia has rescheduled their hosting a youth night for Friday, January 31, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

.Youth aged 10 years and older are invited to a night of games and pizza. There is no admission charge for youth attendees.  Call 660-826-1525 for more information.

The Shrine Club of Sedalia will have their monthly breakfast.

It’s open to the public and held at 1375 Elm Hills blvd.  It’ll happen on Saturday, January 4 from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m.  They’ll serve eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, juice, milk or coffee for $6.  For to go orders, call 660-281-3619 or 826-6171.

The Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department will have their Princess Party.

Calling all princesses in training between the ages of 2 – 7 years! You are cordially invited to our annual Princess Party. Spend a morning filled with royal games, magical crafts, delicious snacks, and more! Come in your favorite princess dress and tiara for this fabulous fairytale event.  Space is limited so register quickly! Registration taken until January 28 or when classes fill, whichever comes first. $8 per child. We will be offering two sessions on Saturday, February 1; either 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Space is limited so register quickly!

The Pettis County Extension will have their third annual Dinner and Auction on February 1.

The event will be at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3700 West Broadway, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.  The menu consists of ham and brisket, cheesy potatoes, green beans, corn, salad, roll and dessert.  Proceeds will support all Pettis County Extension programs.  Adult tickest are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.  For children aged 5-10, the cost is $4 in advance or $5 at the door.  For tickets, stop by the Extension at 1012 Thompson, Suite A or call 827-0591.
