When I have to put the date in the story headline so you know the story is for today, Tuesday May 28, it's safe to say we've had a lot of significant storms roll through the area. This afternoon and tonight is the same story.

The National Weather Service's outlook for both Sedalia (Pettis County) and Warrensburg (Johnson County) are similiar: "Widespread storms are possible this afternoon and this evening. Hazards include strong to damaging winds, large hail, and a few possible tornados. Flash flooding is possible tonight into tomorrow morning."  Here is the Sedalia forecast. Here is the Warrensburg forecast from NOAA.

Those listening in Warrensburg / Johnson County have also been placed under a tornado watch until 10PM CT tonight. A tornado watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the devevelopment of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornados.

For this afternoon and evening Sedalia and Warrensburg are on the edge of the area the NWS says has a "moderate" risk for severe storms.

Warrensburg is in the tornado watch area until 10PM CT:

Bottom line. If you're in Pettis or Johnson counties, or in any of the areas the National Weather Service says is at risk for an "enhanced" or "moderate" risk of severe storms, stay "weather aware" as the meteorologists say. After all Sedalia was right in the middle of where severe weather was supposed to hit last week, and Jefferson City got hit worse.

We'll have severe weather updates from Weather Eye and the National Weather Service on air this afternoon and this evening if the weather gets bad.
