Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested by Pettis County Deputies

On Saturday afternoon, the Pettis County Joint Communications received an emergency call of a subject actively being sexually assaulted.

Pettis County Deputies were dispatched to the 17100 block of Pin Hook in Pettis County.

During the investigation, Pettis County Patrol Deputies spoke with the victim, along with a witness, who reported she had been involved an altercation with her Uncle, and during the incident, she was sexually assaulted.

Deputies took Yuriy S. Kovalenko into custody without incident. During the assault, a juvenile subject was present to the assault.

Pettis County Deputies transported Kovalenko to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending charges of Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy (Aggravated Sexual Offense), a class U felony, and felony Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.
