SFCC Coach Lyndsey Talbot Earns ‘Diamond9′ Award

State Fair Community College (SFCC) Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot has been selected to receive one of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s Diamond 9 Awards.

The award will be presented at the Hall of Fame’s annual Baseball and Softball Luncheon on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield.

Former high school, college and/or professional standouts, or other individuals who made positive contributions to their respective sport will be recognized.

“I feel honored to be selected as one of the recipients of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Diamond 9 Awards,” said Talbot. “I am very proud to have spent the majority of my softball career in Missouri, playing at Jeff City High School and Central Methodist. I was lucky enough to be coached and influenced by hall of fame coaches at both schools. I was taught life lessons that went far beyond the softball diamond. Coaching here at SFCC. It is an honor and privilege to pass along my passion for the game and hopefully make the same impact on my players."

Talbot played her final two seasons at Jefferson City High School for Head Coach Lisa Dey, helping her team to a state runner-up finish as a senior.

Talbot played collegiately from 2008-2010 at Central Methodist University (CMU) in Fayette. As a freshman, she helped CMU to their first Heart of America Athletics Conference Championship. At the conclusion of her playing career, she joined the CMU coaching staff and helped win four more conference championships and three trips to the NAIA National Tournament. The Eagles finished fifth in the nation in 2015. Talbot was part of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in 2014 through 2016.

“Lyndsey is very deserving of this award,” said State Fair Community College Athletic Director Darren Pannier. “The dedication and work ethic that she has displayed throughout her career as a student-athlete and assistant coach at Central Methodist made the decision to hire her at SFCC a no-brainer. She had all the qualifications that we were looking for in someone to lead our softball program. She also does a very good job of relating to her student-athletes. I cannot say enough about what Lyndsey means to our athletic department."

Coach Talbot is in her sixth season as the head coach at SFCC, where she helped start the softball program. Six student-athletes have earned All-Region 16 honors during her tenure. Coach Talbot’s teams also do very well in the classroom, with two NJCAA Academic Team honors in 2020 and 2021.
