Did you know any person born after 1984 who wants to operate a vessel on the lakes of Missouri is required to have a boating safety card issued by the Water Patrol Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol? If you have a young man or woman in your family who you want to drive your boat next summer now is a great time to take the Highway Patrol's Boater Safety Course.

There's no age limit to who can take the course, however they do need to be able to follow and understand the course material. While children 14 and under can't operate a boat on the water's of Missouri without adult supervision, they're still required to have the boater safety certificate.

State Fair Community College is offering a free Boater Safety Course at their LOZ campus, 3797 Osage Beach Parkway in Osage Beach. (The upper level of the Stone Crest Mall.) Friday November 6 from 9:00AM - 4:00PM CST with lunch provided.

While there is no charge for the class, the Water Patrol Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol charges $15.00 for the safety card which each person who will be operating your boat must possess.

If you'd like to sign yourself or a family member up for the class you can register and learn more about it here.
